Hey everyone. I'm back with two companies that have offered to send me to orientation and I think I'm going to go to one of these companies for sure. Now the question is, which one is best?
Pride will mostly run me out west, which I really like.
Does anyone know where Tyson runs the most?
This next part may make the decision seem like a no brainer, but without the miles your CPM means nothing really.
So, Tyson will start me at .39/mile and pride will start me at .30/mile.
Which one would honestly be the best QOL on the road (meaning more miles, pay, treatment of drivers, length of runs, and areas they operate in)?
I know I've posted these questions a lot, but I am really doing my due diligence in selecting a company, I really want to get somewhere that I can stay.
The only thing I am worried about with Pride is the .30/mile, that's pretty bad! But, does Tyson really do 2500-3000 average per week? It they are only doing 2000 or less then that's not good either.
Sorry for the long thread, but dang I really really want to pick the best company that I can.
Thanks for the help everyone!

most tyson drivers seem happy
pride is just another part of the family of C R ENGLAND -
The only relation Pride has with CR England is by Blood Relation. They have nothing to do with CR and vice-versa. As small outfits go, they have alot going for them. They are very personable, Have a good shop, and decent equipment and the Owner is still out there driving truck.. Their pay has changed since I last researched them, but you won't be making .30 for very long.
Would you be moving to Salt Lake City? Or does Pride has another terminal that I don't know about.
Tyson, I know nothing about. Most of the Drivers I have met are snotty as hell, but that doesn't mean anything. So are UPS and Walmart Drivers, but they are also some of the best paid in the industry. It seems like with Tyson, you'd be hauling your own product out and maybe back hauls or something coming back, so that may be a more stable freight base, VS hauling everything under gods green earth, with PRIDE.
I think Both Companies are good choices. Just compare notes of what the recruiters say and se which best fits you.
Good luck -
Mileage pay is only a portion of the final paycheck.
Depending on the company, sometimes it's better to work for less mileage pay if the other assessorial pays are good, such as stop pay, detention pay, layover pay, etc. These pays are usually listed on the websites. Do both companies run the areas you want to run in? For some, especially new drivers, the running areas are important. Someone with a family may not be as concerned about that & look strictly at the bottom line.mje Thanks this. -
Tyson 2000miles = pride 2600miles
Tyson 2500 miles = pride 3250 miles.
Run don't walk to Tyson.fling-wing and mje Thank this. -
@GabeScott
1. You reply literally made me laugh haha "run don't Walt to Tyson."
2. Had not put it into that perspective yet. Thanks for that.mje Thanks this. -
I'm in Nashville, don't think there's a terminal here. I don't mind running for about 30 days at a time though, really prefer running out west, but at the end of the week I also need a decent paycheck. Haven't heard anything bad about either company though.
mje Thanks this. -
I'm not sure where you are getting the .39cpm for tyson. I haven't looked them up but when I applied they where on a slidding pay scale. So the shorter runs make the most money and the longer runs the least. I think you would do better at Tyson because you are in the heart of chicken country. I'm sure they will keep you busy and probably get by the house often. Trucks also go 70 so that's a plus.

Wow they changed it up. seems like they add to .39 if you get the short runs. Not bad at all.
mje Thanks this. -
@Dinomite
You are correct. 250 mi and under would = .45/mile
Less than 250-500 mile = .42/mi
Above that is .39/milemje Thanks this.
