Are there any companies that only look back 2 years or allow one serious violation? It looks like the conviction on the speeding ticket happened almost a year later and resulted in a 25 day suspension. Do companys look at the date of the offense or the conviction? I have one at-fault accident over 3 years old as well. I think my criminal record shows an open container and a disorderly conduct also over 3 years old.

I used to not care about my license and didnt even bother to pay my tickets or show up for my court dates. I have paid all my fines to restore my license but it looks like I will have a hard time getting hired. I am changing my attitude and keeping my license clean because I really love driving and want to pursue this career, just wondering how long I will have to wait.

Im 28, old enough. I actually consider myself a good driver I just used to not pay any of my fines. The speeding ticket was on a rural road that goes from 45 to 35 to 25 within a mile. I made one mistake and there is no way I will "stay off the road." I conti.ue to operate vehicles on the road as my non-commercial license allows.

I understand I need to "grow up" as you put it. The last blemish on my record occured when I was 26, I will soon be 29 and am excited to put my past behind me and maybe put some money in the bank while I do what I enjoy, drive.

look into expungement on your criminal history.

for insurance purposes, mvr goes back 3 years. but some companies go back up to 10 years. that speeding might hurt you though. but if it's your only moving violation in the last 3 years, you have a chance.

some of us do stupid things when we're young. it's the best time to do stupid things. as you've got your whole life in front of you to clean up your act. and probably not a lot of responsibility.

you will learn as you get older. to start respecting the laws more, by that time, you'll have an established life and can't afford to be dumb.

and on that note. to the poster that harps the OP down. should probably grow up themselves. along with the thanks they get for their remark.

harping a man down becuase he's young and dumb. is uncalled for.

With a a record like yours, I don't think you have much of a chance. Think it over for about 7 more years and keep you record clear. Then you will have a chance.

there are lotsa local gigs that aren't that strict as the OTR megas. unless he wants to live on the road with a mega. his history is actually saving him.

them OTR megas are more damaging to your reputation then local gigs, or his own craziness.

Why should any motor carrier take a chance and hire you? You have never driven a mile in a commercial vehicle and your recent history of driving a non-commercial vehicle is filled with recent moving violations, in addition to a few criminal offenses. Sure, you may find a motor carrier to hire you, but it will take many years of hard work to overshadow your past. Wanting to turn over a new leaf does not make the recent past disappear. It does not matter whether you believe me or others here as you will find this out the hard way. Here is a phrase you may be wise to burn into your mind..... Safety First, Never Last.....Have a Future, Not a Past.

Nothing personal my friend. Just giving you some hard facts to temper the level of disappointment that will likely follow.
