Steve,
I`m within a few weeks of starting cdl school and training with maverick.
I`m located in Shelbyville Ky...and I understand maverick hauls alot of freight out of Ghent Ky and Jeffersonville In.Both of which are close to me.

I read your blog ,good info in there too.
Any info you can share ,especially on their training and hometime will be appreciated.
I was told I`d probably be pulling a "covered wagon"

Hey, driver I am with maverick also. I live in West KY. This is the best company I have ever been with by far! It is my fifth company since back in the 80's, so I have been down the road a few times. PM me if you want more info.

Notarps4me, Do you cover 48 states or are you regional? Do you go out west to the mountians?

Maverick said that you can email your family from your truck, so do they supply the computer? How does that work?

I am in the US division. US div gets home 98% of the weekends. Long haul div stays out 2 weeks at a time. US is out 1 week at a time. I can run anywhere, but mostly run WI, IA, IL, OH, MO, TN, VA, AR, MS, AL, GA, IN, KY and a few other states. I run about 20 states.

You have to pay for the in cab email. It is kind of high. Most use cells or laptops. It is a good company. I talked to a couple of their students that did not have CDL's. They said they put them in a house trailer for school. Said they liked the school and it was free. I think they said they were paid 400 a week for training and had to work for them for 6 months to pay off the school. Orientation is a week paid 550 bucks and load securement training is paid 400 bucks for 1 week then you will be with a trainer. Good luck to you! There is a $500 sign on bonus as well.

All I want to know was it a single wide or double, this may be the deciding factor for me?

I am not sure so I don't want to answer. I alraedy had my CDL and did not need the school. I think the school is 3 weeks.

Thanks for the info. I've had my Cdl for over 3 yrs. now, so I need orientation & securement training. I will apply w/ them maybe this week. Not sure when I would leave my current company though. Timimg is everything ya know. Late summer/ fall is a better time to learn securement/tarping than winter time. So my question to myself is do I want to do another year w/ my current employer, or break off soon. Hmmmm...

I'm just starting out and I'm trying to make the most informed decision possible.
With Maverick, are there 2 divisions for recent grads (U.S. and Longhaul) w/ regional based on seniority/waiting list? (Got 'Pre-hire' from Roehl today, and I'm very interested in Maverick also).

Also, I'll be relocating to Eastern Kentucky from SC after CDL training. Where I actually "live" is not as important as getting on with a great company. Any tips on best location in relation to Maverick's "travel lanes"?
