cobra 29 lx.... boom....done...

I like the smallest, cheapest one I can find. If I pay more than $29.00 for a C.B. I feel ripped off. As long as I can hear about a road block or accident in front of me or in foggy weather....and the shipper/receiver say "White Dog, go ahead and put it in door 8, chock the wheels, and come inside"....that's all I need. Otherwise a C.B. is nothing more than annoying as hell and usually in the "off' position.

Pick up. The cheap one at Walmart it will do the job, if at a later time you feel you need more just turn it on in a truck stop, somebody almost always has one for sale.
Also you really can't go wrong with a Cobra 29. -
Cobra 29 is a great radio for the $. Buy a decent antenna, good coax, properly grounded even a low budget radio will work great. I have a big radio but used my cobra 29 for a few months and it performed really well

Depends on how diligently you'll use it. If you were driving intrastate here in Colorado, I'd say find one at a yard sale... you'll rarely ever talk to anyone on it. If you're actually going to use it, the Cobra 25 or 29 will suit you just fine (29 has a larger case, but they're the same internally). Just get the Plain Jane model ("Classic")... you don't need weather bands, the stupid backlighting which ultimately goes tits up, the SoundTracker, any of that nonsense.
Years ago, I bought a Connex 3300HP, and I still use it... paid a pretty penny for it. I don't necessarily regret it, but, hindsight being 20/20 and all, I think I've have passed it up and stayed with a Cobra if I could turn back time... the Connex is a great radio, but I never saw any real benefit to it over a less expensive one, when everything is said and done. -
Yea I agreeget a cobra you will haveless trouble with it most will match up with factory anttenas butyou can invest in a astatic mic I bought one for a cobra 25 years ago that I still have as a back up when I take my general lee to the shop also that old 25 I bet it would work with a coathanger for a anttena

Cobra 25 or 29 has worked well for me. Like said above, a decent antenna, good coax and good grounding is important too. Witchinghour says you don't need weather band but I like having one on my radio. It's came in handy several times for me, especially in the winter.

I bought a cobra 29 at a pawn shop for $50. Included a gear keeper mic retractor and those are $20 alone. Works great with the stock Volvo antennas.

If you like to play around on ssb, the uniden 980 or a cobra 148 would be a good choice.
