How does it work in this business? Truck and trailer are at a terminal, not under a load, and i've just accepted an offer in the field I went to college for - at home - every night - no truck stops or traffic. Are two week notices a thing?

    ncmickey and Montgomery Thank this.

Yes ,...a 2 week notice of intent is more than enough in fact a 1 week notice is enough but just in case ask the company what's a suffient notice of intent for them

There’s no requirement to give any notice, a 2 week notices is just a courtesy.

If you plan on using them as a reference giving some type of notice would probably be a good idea.

Giving a 2 weeks notice means nothing in this industry, that company won't respect you any more or less then all the other drivers. The very next day they'll have someone to take your place. There's not many drivers that give a 2 weeks notice. When you know you're going to the terminal, that's plenty of notice to your dispatcher you're quitting.

I've always given a 2 week notice but I doubt it earned me much.

I gave a Notice once, they got me a load home, but wouldn't give me a load back to yard.

Would any company give you a 2 week notice if they planned on firing you? I don't think so!
