Got 7 Months Flatbed Experience.....Gypsum Express?? Boyd??TMC?? Percentage or CPM???

You probably live in the middle of every flatbed company's hiring area living in Alabama. Figure out what's most important home time or long runs. I personally would go with a % company but in the end the bean counters know what to pay and most places are going to be very similar in pay.

If you want to see 48 states go Melton. If you want to be home most weekends go with Maverick, Boyd, TMC, Jordan, etc. The only O could say that would turn me off from Gysum is those tiny Frightshakers will be the heck out of you. Good luck!!

 

Boyd will say you don't have enough exp I believe. They either want fresh from school or minimum 2 yrs driving. You can try though. My bf loves it with Boyd and has no desire to go anywhere else. Main terminal is in Birmingham and they are moving to all 2014 or 15 Internationals. He's been home most weekends he has requested.

 

Not sure on start pay, but Melton, newer equipment, APU's, $20 tarp, $20 untarp, hazmat xtra 6 CPM, Canada xtra 6 CPM, oversize xtra 8 CPM, quarterly fuel bonuses, good benefit package

percentage can be good. But it depends on that companies rates/lanes and their ability to negotiate any back haul rates. 25% of $1.85 is .4995 cpm, but just 18% of $3.00/mile is .54cpm.

Think about what you hauling for when that load planner secures you a nice 1200 mile Friday backhaul for $1.00/mile.....

On the other hand, percentage ensures you a raise every time rates go up. We saw sharp increases in rates almost 2 years ago, but driver pay just started increasing this year.
