I have never had the situation but I do want to no just in case it does happen.many drivers have said you can put a little bit of alcohol down the airline to help unfreeze frozen brakes.I have 2 questions. Which line do you put the alcohol down, and how much do you use? I know it is not good for the seals but I would like to know just in case of an emergency.

of course I always have my 2.5 pound sledge hammer for when break actually freeze to the drums. That has never happened to me either because I typically do not set my trailer brakes

If you service your air dryer annually like you're suppose to, odds are you never will have that problem.

Usually you just disconnect the glad hands, pour the fluid down into the glad hand hose. Couple of tablespoons worth perhaps. Reconnect lines, air it up, and it should work its way through the system.

Grab a bottle of abc at the next truck stop. Air brake line conditioner. Fill the red line and reattach. Then pop your red brake button a few times.

Don't place your detached glad hands in your spare tire where a few gallons of water collects

don't leave your glad hands disconnected, PERIOD.

moisture in the air can get in either the trailer or truck. and freeze up. the holes in them lines aren't very big.

if you push the trailer valve in and nothing fills up the trailer. immediately. it's a good bet the truck itself is froze.

if the trailer fills but its very fast. it's probably a froze trailer.

don't know about the rest of you all, but more often then not. it's been my truck.

It's not just the trl icing up that you have to worry about my air dryer froze up Monday morning. For trl you pour in the supply. If the air dryer freezes and the truck won't build air you pull the main line at the compressor and dump a bit down there. It'll work it's way back and unfreeze in about 5 mins. To get the truck to build air you may have to cover the air dryer pop off valve with your hand though. I need a new air dryer had mine rebuild a year ago but the only thing it's good for is target practice. I drain probably 1/2-1 gallon of water out of my tanks each week.
