You better realize that local jobs that pay anything are hard to come by, especially with limited experience as you have. I hate to rain on your parade, but as far as a local driver with a ltl freight carrier, I doubt very seriously that you will be successful in finding a job.
I think if I was you I would check with a few tanker outfits. If you have hazmat endorsement, hauling fuel might be one job worth looking into. Know any milk hauling outfits?? Gravel, rock hauling might be another option. You might check with a food distributor. Wish you luck,Boyjr87 and Tonythetruckerdude Thank this. -
Check those Fuel Haulers that pull outta of Selma... If you wanna work you could also give Sysco in Selma a call. How about Ezell hauling wood & chips? They might work on Saturdays but pretty much sure they're not doing anything on Sunday
Boyjr87 Thanks this. -
Seems you beat me to it grouch.
Truth be told, while local probably isn't coveted, you'll be up against far more experienced drivers who want the same spot. You'll have to deal with it and get some experience first.Boyjr87 Thanks this. -

Do what I did....whenever you're out on the road in your area...keep an eye out for trucks with day cabs. Write down the company names and check them out online. Most do require at least a year of experience. However, some...(i.e. SEFL and ABF...both are LTL)...will take you with less. You'd just have to do their OJT. The pay for both of those are decent.
There's a SEFL terminal in Rocky Mount, NC.TruckrWnnaB and Boyjr87 Thank this. -
