Hi everyone I am looking for a company that can give me a refresher course if I driver for them. I haven't drove in 4 years and have very little exp need to find a company that can let me start working asap with no money down. I know this is the worst way to get back in trucking but not to many options at this time. Maybe a few of you guys and gals know a no money down way to get back into trucking or less than $2000 dollar way please I'm all ears . Thanks for any info. I heard western express will doit but any other companies would make this a lot easier .
What companies pay for Refresher course in house?

Celadon offers a refresher. Don't think you get paid during it... think you start earning when you begin orientation, but they lodge you and feed you.
The biggest catch I've found with them is you have to team for the first 120,000 miles.
Best thing you can do is send out a bunch of applications/pre hires and see who makes you the best offer.
Hope this helps.MoneyMotivated Thanks this. -
Thanks Montgomery but I looked at Celadon and they want 3 months exp if I want to do the refresher course . All I have is my CDL for the last four years and about 2-3 weeks exp otr with Central Refrigerated back in 2010.
Montgomery and Chinatown Thank this. -

Your profile has China; maybe go there and teach Chinese truckers what traffic lights, stop signs, pedestrian crosswalks are for. While your at it show them where the headlight switch is and what it's for; the obviously don't know because they drive like maniacs at night with no lights on. Of course they could immigrate to USA and drive dump trucks and then wouldn't have to change any of their habits.

thanks chinatown I'll give kkw a call when I get back to the states. what does everyone think about western express ? I mean just for a few months exp than go to a better company? How many months would I need before I could sign up with a company that pays in the mid to high 30's cpm?

Western Express gives drivers what they want, an avenue to get back on the road, then they complain about it. You can probably deal with it because you evidently have a spirit of adventure to be living in a Communist country...lol... so Western Express would be easy for you.
Their refresher course serves a good purpose and some just can't seem to keep it in perspective as to why they are there, ie. a stepping stone to where they really want to be.
As for Western Express, they want you to stay with them 9 months, but most people bail out after 3-6 months when they find another job. Personally, I would go with Western Express if I needed a refresher and finances were tight. I would have no problem at all fulfilling the contract whether I liked the company or not. I've been in worse situations.
KKW runs Western states; probably a pretty good deal to get back on the road also.Last edited: Dec 22, 2014
