Just got out of the military so I'm not falling for recruiting tactics again... I've been researching a ton on the various companies and more or less its the same at about every one. I don't understand how ppl start doing this and not accept the bad as well. The way I figure, in the navy I had nine month sometimes a lil more deployments. Every two to three years... Not including the two-three random times out at sea or away... So this is the same for one to two years timewise just about... With the potential to move on to much better things later. My goal is something local but does anyone know a company that has southeastern runs mostly.
honest recruitment?

Schneider also has dedicated runs in the southeast. Jcpenny, goodyear and stein mart just to name a few.

Thanks I'll do more research on them. I don't mind the money much just need the exp to move on.

They really do like to force rules and regs though. -
The only honest recruiting you're gonna find is from companies that don't need to recruit!
Wild Murphy, Vilhiem and KM4FAE Thank this. -

Thanks all for your replies... Yea looking into the mid companies. From whay I can see so far the bigger companies pay less, have more late model, high employees and higher than average turnover, and just usually better company benefits which I doubt are worth the rates in pay.

"Honest recruitment"?
That's an oxymoron if I ever heard of it. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxymoron)
You want honest, or recruitment?
Frankly, you'll get recruited long before you get honesty, the military should have taught you that, and in the workaday world, not so much in honesty exists.
Take anything with a grain of salt, ask questions of some of us about particular companies, then make up your own mind. Some may push driving tankers, and you may not want that. Some may push reefer and that is not for you either, as well as flatbed, etc, etc.
One persons "ideal job" can be another's, Honest recruitment nightmare.
As an example, my company does strictly dedicated freight for several customers, from automotive to electrical as only a small sample. They DO NOT hire anyone with under 5 years experience. The pay is like a salary, but miss a day, and we do not get paid. Some salary, huh?
My route can be as little as 6 hours long, or up to 11-12 hours due to weather, accidents and such.
To me, it's an ideal job, to others, they would want a pay scale for miles, drop offs, pick ups, and home time.
I am home daily, and off Sats/Suns. Paper logs, leased Penske tractors, and purchased trailers. No boss at my location, he is only a phone call away.
I like this job, the boss however was NOT honest with me when he said, "no lifting at all, or very little"
Every freaking night, I gotta lift!
But he recruited me, right away!Wild Murphy Thanks this. -
A&R Logistics has home weekends. Make about $62K per year. This company waives the "one year experience required" for military veterans. Don't need tanker or hazmat endorsements because they haul dry bulk plastic pellets that aren't hazmat. Check the website.
Wild Murphy and gnewb12 Thank this.
