Hey helpful vets
Getting my truck soon and I'd like to get an idea of some steep downgrades and where they are. I know you guys won't know where every single one is, but if you could post the ones you know that'd be cool. Thank you!
PS, I've been down a few during training, like Mouneagle and a bunch of lesser ones in the northeast. Haven't been out west past Denver though.
Can anyone give me a list of some steep downgrades and where they are?

I think he means mostly highway steep grades?
To the o/p, have you tried to do some sort of Google search?
Something like, America's roads steepest grades? Or word it differently and try several searches. Been a very LONG time since I been OTR, all I can say you will see warning signs along the way. -
Donner and Grapevine in Ca. Fourth of July in Idaho Cabbage in Oregon Parleys in Utah Lookout in Montana Loveland and Vail in Colorado

Yes I meant interstates. Sorry.

OP most if the big grades are west of Denver. Probably the most talked about would e the two I've already mentioned, the grapevine, 4th of July, Cajone and a few others. I can only think of a few steep foothills east of the Mississippi. One in W. Va, one in TN and some I'm sure I'm forgetting about. The deal is the ones on the west coast can last for 20 miles or more. Tend to see a lot of inexperienced drivers burn up their brakes and often their trucks out west.stryker5673 Thanks this. -
Gee I type slow. Lol
