Keep in mind that Maverick runs auto shift trucks. Which may, or may not, limit the number of companies out there that will hire you in the event you leave Maverick. Other than that, I can't really comment on the CDL school itself. I already had mine when I drove for them. However, I can say a few things about the other parts of getting hired there.
Make sure you have absolutely nothing physically wrong with you. They have the strictest physical that I have ever taken. They check anything and everything. Neck, back, hips, knees, ankles, etc. If ANYTHING is questionable, they hand you a bus ticket home. They put you through a heart stress test. So, if you smoke and don't get much exercise, get off your butt and start taking brisk walks several times a day. One other thing they do that puts a bunch of folks on a bus home is they make sure you can get a tarp onto a trailer and then onto the top of a load. Tarps aren't exactly light. But they aren't impossible to manage. Had 2 females in our group. One was no bigger than a minute. She did fine. But she was determined as hell too.
As for their instruction in safety. They're pretty good. Maybe one of the best. Especially in the load securement department. If you're serious about them, get on it now. You don't want to be in "the barn" securing and tarping in August! It gets really hot in there. Nothing you won't find in a real world scenario. But in the real world you wont be inside a 120 degree building ALL day long.
Good luck! They're are as decent of a company as any out there to work for. They have their quirks. But all companies do.Gary Grinch Thanks this. -

Most likely they'll have you do a refresher course if its been 2 years since you drove a class 8 combination vehicle.
