I've been at the job a few years now and still have trouble with blind side backing. Yesterday I had a night mare backing in L.A. in an old part of town where the streets are no wider then residendial neighborhoods. If it wasn't for the good help from two guys who worked at the delivery I might not have made it. A few weeks ago I had another delivery at a place where the only way into the dock was righthand backing and the workers there basically told me it was my problem. They said they couldn't assist me because they couldn't be involved if I ran into something. Advice on blind side anyone?
Still need help on blind side back

Roll down your passenger window, go back about 5-10 feet, set brakes, stand up and lean over to look at your position via open passenger window, go back about 5-10 feet, set brakes, stand up and lean over to look at your position via open passenger window, repeat as necessary until you can pull up enough to get it straight.

Flip your pass side sun visor down and use the vanity mirror. There is a mirror for sale at truck stops that you can attach to the sun visor.... Its bigger than the vanity mirror

Blindside backing ain't easy, if you're depending on mirrors. Blindspot mirror is too small to get accurate view, especially if trying to get into tight spot between 2 chromed up Petes, right ? A power mirror on passenger side helps a lot. Proper way is to ask for help. You don't need to hit something, right ?

Use the mirrors on the front of the tractor too. Im actually better at blindsiding them i am at siteside lol. I have an advantage though as I have my wife as my eyes and ears.

I've had a Hell of a time with this, but I've got to the point where I merely sweat and get it done, instead of a complete panic. My advice if it's really tight? Go 5 feet. stop, get out and look. Go five feet, Get Out and Look. You'll know if you need to pull up again, rinse, repeat. I know they guys at the dock may laugh, but you've been at this long enough to know that slow and steady wins the race. FWIW, I use the convex mirror on my passenger side a LOT doing this and it really helps. But always, "Slow is smooth and smooth is fast."
