Do all drivers going into Canada have to have a Passport? I've heard yes and no, depending on certain loads and regions.

It's my understanding that we do not need a passport to enter into Canada (yet), but will soon have to. In fact I think the target date for this requirement has already passed, and has since been extended. I applied for, and recieved mine about 4-5 weeks after I first inquired at the local post office. I think there were two fees totaling around $85.
Hope this helps. Good luck and watch out for bears. Both four-legged and four-wheeled. -
Flying into Canada and I do believe going in by ship it is required, I know for a fact flying it is. But vehicles not yet, it is on the way though. I do believe there is a date set for it as well, but not sure when it is. You would just have to google it.

You don't need a passport yet but you will on the first of the year in 2008. It's a US regulation, meaning you actually need it to get back into the states. Your CDL/Birth Certificate won't cut it anymore.

Actually, you won't need one to get in at all.
You will however need one to get BACK, starting next year.
If you fly you need it now.
