Sorry, that's not a truck stop, it is a Cabellas. That is why they closed the truck area, to move Cabellas in. My question still remains, where will all those trucks go when they close the freeway?

I stayed at the alamo in Sparks last week, and I have a few other times as well when I have loads to that area.
Not a bad Truck stop/ casino.
I dont like most of the ones I stopped at in Louisana though.

Walked out of the one last week 300 dollars ahead though.

Well, here's ome rules I live by, no matter what.

    1. Know how much time you have to spend; too many times drivers stay longer than they should, and end up late, or driving sleepy/drunk. I always set my phone alarm, and know exactly how long I WANT to stay in the casino beforehand.

    2. Know how much you CAN spend before you go in, and ONLY TAKE THAT AMOUNT IN WITH YOU!!!!! I leave my wallet in the truck, and take only my I.D., and the money I can spend. No credit cards, or extra cash. Trust me on this one.

    3. Enjoy yourself! Most of the casinos have really good food at reasonable prices, plus free drinks, etc. Bands, people, all of it is fun. Take your time, if you have it.

    4. HAve a strategy, like what kind of games you are going to play, and what kind of stakes. I usually play the 2 cent machines, and only them. Depends on your unique situation of course. But I find when I slowly play the 2 cent machines, I don't go through my money as quick, and have a better time. I bet all lines, 1 per line. Works for me.

    5. Be careful about drinking alcohol. Some police departments actually have operations to catch drivers drinking and getting into their trucks. You can lose your license and job just by being drunk in your parked rig. Fact.

Hope this helps, I'm sure the experienced drivers know alot of this, maybe not the newbies.

I really like Hollywood Casino, in PA on 81 just before 78. Had some good times there. I also highly recommend the Hard Rock in Tampa, but you need to take a taxi or catch a ride. I've caught a ride there from the flying J by just offereing 4 wheeler 10 bucks. And my favorite, other than the Vegas ones, is Sams in Tunica. plenty of parking round there, and I win alot there. Well, good luck fellas.

I like the Diamond Jo in Northwood, IA and the Lac Vieux Desert in Watersmeet, MI. The Diamond Jo actually jumped through some hoops to put the rest area off the beaten path, right in front of their casino. The Lac Vieux Desert has a gas station next door with enough room to park the rig, attached to the casino's parking lot.

    truckerswife11 Thanks this.

There is a fairly new casino at exit 1 on I-94 in Michigan, its called Four Winds. A good deal of truck parking and the place is HUGE.
