Anyone here drive a frieghtliner with mercedes benz engine with the mbe 4000 engine with an eaton fuller 10 speed? What rpms do they like to shift at? Does anyone have a list or something for what rpms for each gear? I would appreciate some input or advice on how to properly upshift and downshift

I always shift by ear, listen to the engine should be somewhere around 1600-1700 RPM.
-
I am always at #80,000 when loaded. We go out loaded and come back empty, short hauls. Is it the same rpms loaded or empty?

I usually downshift at 1000 rpm, shoot it a little fuel to around 1400 rpms and drop one gear. am I downshifting at to low of rpms for one full gear down?

not sure if it still applies but I was taught there are 400 rpms between each gear always worked for me 200 on the split dosent apply to your 10 I shift by ear and feel also but that is hard to teach. I dont know anything about them new motors best to call dealer and ask the power band downshift on the low side of it upshift on the high side watch out letting rpm get too low it makes it really hard to recover

I go by the sound of the engine, it usually is around 1700 rpms.

I'm still a student and taking my test Dec 15. The truck I use(same tranny) is governed at 1500 rpm. I upshift at around 1200 and downshift around a 1000 rpm with no grinding (most of the time) But it changes with the terrain and what your pulling.

If you are still a student in school how will you know that it changes with what you are pulling, just curious? When I was a student in school all we pulled were empty vans.
And it seems to me that upshifting at 1200 is is a lil low!! I will normally shift around 1500 to 1700 RPMs.
