:biggrin_25525:I was wondering if anyone knew a few companies that would hire a recent felon 5/06 obstruction of an officer. I went threw school a year ago and got my cdl class a with tx endorsements on a grant. And the only job ive found so far was for a class b concrete truck driver. Well the company laid off alot of people and i was one of them. Im still on probation but i can travel all 48 states with written permission. I have a company in town that will hire me once i get a year experience. But getting someone to give me a chance is the hard part. Ive tried most of the big companies like swift, schneider and transam to name a few. But even swift turned me down twice. This was my first and last charge i will ever get and i have 3 more years till it is removed from my record. But i was hoping to get started driving before then. If someone could give a few companies that hire around Georgia that would help me out alot.

Better look for a different type of work unless a local company will hire you. Most companies will not hire a person with a felonious conviction in the last 3 to 10-years even after the probation time ends.

Provided you can show proof of the travel restrictions being removed based on employment.

Southern Refrigerated out of Texarkana, AR might consider you for employment. Please keep in mind...they are the left hand of Covenant, once removed..

They can be a royal pain in the *** to work for. But, give the recruiters a call. Be 100% honest with them, and they may hear you out.

Be forewarned though. This is a down economy, and you may get a resounding "no" right up front. But they DO hire felons.

Going to be hard for you to find a OTR job with a recent felony. As others have said, you might want to look into more local work.

Seems like it may be hard given that everyone I talk to has to go to Canada once in a while and Canada won't let you in.

Not so, many companies haul into Canada, but don't require their drivers to go.

SRT is a good example of that, as is Watkins and Shepard. We have drivers that go every day. I haven't been asked even once, and I have my passport, no felonies ;)

Drivers willing to cross that border, are far and few between. They do it because they have to. On the other hand, many are like me and enjoy running in Canada. We just never get there.

The company my hubby runs for does Canada freight, and he doesn't go into Canada.
