The tanker , yes . Check with your state DMV . Some states won't let you take the hazmat test until you've passed the background check .
-
Get all your endorsements if possible, even passenger. You never know what job positions may come up in the future......
-
the more endorsements =$$$$$
-
it's alot easier to get the endorsements up front than it is to go back and add them on later. -
hey Wedgezilla, i am originally from Bloomington...

Other states may differ, but Virginia allowed me to test for Hazmat prior to receiving my Homeland Security check back, they just wouldn't add the actual endorsement until the background check was received. Check with your state though, many have limits as to how long the test results are valid, if not added as an endorsement immediately, before they disappear into oblivion. Virginia wasn't a problem, I tested and the results were good for 6 months. I received my background check back within two weeks and now have the endorsement on my license.

In Indiana, it's test first, pass and then go get fingerprinted.
Take a $100 dollar bill with you too. -
I'm a new guy, who knows nothing..... But, I, got all my endorsements !
Good Luck ! -
I went yesterday and took my test (passed it, surprizingly easy) then had to go to another BMV office to get fingerprinted. Luckily I had taken my long form DOT physical paperwork with me (you'll need to have it). Got fingerprinted and slapped down my $100 bucks. BMV said I should get my approval letter in 4 to 6 weeks. Then back to the BMV for a new license issue.
