I know someone just posted a similar thread about werner vs swift, but figured I'd throw in roehl, because those are the three that I have a pre hire letter from. I have really only two concerns. Amount of time spent with trainer, and being forced to run illegal. I'm really dreading going out with a trainer, and I think the 8 weeks with werner is a little on the long side, but I like the electronic logging, makes me think it'd be alot harder to have a dispatcher make you run illegal.
But on the other hand there are alot of people complaining about werner, and that makes me think Roehl. Alot of people talk good about roehl, they have a short training period, but paper logs, and some comments about running illegal in other posts.
Swift....well I've only read a little bit about them, mostly negitive, and I don't know about there training timeline.
Any input is appreciated,
Joe

I would say roehl is the better of the three there. No company can make you run illegal you are the one who is in charge of that truck and you are the one in charge of that log book. Log it as you do and log it legal......to a point lol. Seriously though roehl is the best werner is the worst.

If i had to chose i would pick roehl first. Then werner, then swifty. Where you live i dont see hometime being a problem.

I've never had a dispatcher tell me to run illegal at Roehl. Neither weight-wise, nor log-wise. I do know they have asked people to run overweight and even gone as far as routing them around the scales. They know I won't do it, so they don't bother asking.

Thanks for the tips guys, I'm going to call Roehl now and have them start my full process application.
thanks again,

I just started with swift you have 23 days at there school, then 3 days orientation, 42 days with a mentor.

Swift just told me I was accepted for their school but I can't find anything on if I have to pay up front or financing. Does anyone know the skinny on that? Swift said that only people from their own scchool will be hired right away. Otherwise you have to wait. The price is $3900 including lodging and fees. Which is about as good as I found. I'll be going to Lewiston, Id because it's the closest to Portland where I live. Any thoughts form anyone?

I would recommend them to a friend if he was just starting out. good training, good company.

Hey Joe I just recently lefted Reohl and I can tell you from experience that they are one of the best if not the best company out there and with the different options that they have for a driver is real good. If I would go back over the road of regional I would go back to reohl hands down. -
