Ask 10 drivers, you'll get 10 answers. In dusty conditions, I would do about monthly or 7500 miles. On road, 15-20,000 miles. However, most oil manufacturers are claiming 30,000 and up and most truck companies are stretching their changes to 30-40,000. Some will change just the oil filter at about 20,000. But, lets face it, clean oil extends engine life.

off highway I change mine at 250 hrs
bigrigspartan Thanks this. -
250 hrs in summer, 500 hours in winter.

Sample the oil and change it when the lab says it's bad.

25k mi. should be the max.
just remember it can get expensive to change every month.
if you can make one every quarter that should do it. -
Just out of curiosity, what is the biggest cost of a big-rig oil-change? Is it the oil itself, the parts (drain valve, oil filter, etc), the labor, or the time off the road?
I see a lot of variation from 25k to 45k here, and am wondering where the reason for the difference is. Thanks. -
Company's new KW's are set to have the first one at 40K. Previously the shop did them every 35K.
