Hello,
YEsturday I saw a Ford F450 dually w/ a cargo shell get pulled over by DOT, turned around, and Im assuming taken back to the scales. (this was in Florida) In a few months Ill probably be driving a Uhaul (larger than that truck) past Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi scales. Will I have to take that Uhaul through the scales?
Thanks

No.I used to drive Ryder/Budget trucks sometimes(under 26,000 lb).Never stop in a weigh station.

If it was at the agriculture check station, this is probably the reason why. All trucks, of course, livestock, and u-haul or rental type equipment with a box on back are supposed to stop so they can make sure your not bringing anything in or taking anything out that they don't approve of. Funny thing to me is that almost every time I go into Florida, they make a copy of my bills and I pull a step deck. Guess they have to make it look like they're doing something.:smt102

California requires all rental and delivery trucks to roll thru the scales.
-
So does NM. -
Alright, I give em a call I guess. Thanks yall

Best to go through anyway if the truck is registered more than 5 ton gross.
-
i do know, that "up here" it isn't required if the truck is used for a "regular person" using the vehicle for say moving his/her own property, you know, not for hire...??? -
I know the Erie (MI) scales will send a bear out to grab a Ryder/Uhaul straight truck if they feel like it. Best to be safe and roll across if you're not sure of the regs.

They'll do it here, too.
