I have only been driving for a short while (11 mo) i was working for a truck driveaway company out of va. last feb. i was informed along with a bunch of other drivers that the volvo plant was shutting down and there would be no more loads for us. so we went home and i kept calling for nearly 6 mo. tryn to recieve a load, but they had none...then when i start searching for a new driver job i am told i was fired and now have a hard time getting work..what the heck is wrong with these people, when i left it was clear it was a lay off and to keep in touch for loads, so where in this does fired come into play...stay away from this company if you want any good to come from out of anything...... just dont understand in this buisness if there is any honest companys to work for, started with cr england(thats all im gonna say bout that..lol) just seems like im going in the wrong direction here, if anyone has any tips, please feel free to leave me any ideas...thanx and be safe!

"We went home"------I would try to contact the others who are included in "we" and if they have "termination" on their record, I suggest that y'all seek legal advice in this matter. If the others do not have it on their record, then I would talk to a lawyer and see what legal action that I could take.

If you get layed off the company should have given you a pink slip;that you take to the unemployment dept(if you chose to). It's been my experience,ESPECIALY in this bussiness.LEARN THE LAW/YOUR RITS.Because people in general/companies will lie to protect themselves from paying $ to anyone, especialy the so called dumb/ignorant drivers
(you do for them,an they give back only what they have to by law. -
thx brenda, but what it reallys boils down to is these companys have no morals anymore and treat ALL drivers like crap(but being a ignorant truck driver) i gues i wouldnt know that.......... the rights need to be changed, i know my right and i have already contacted a lawyer...they also agreed with me and what was done was UNLAWFUL....THANX FOR YOUR INPUT BRENDA BUT IT WASNT WORTH THE PAPER I WIPE MY BUTT WITH....

I`m sure they was just trying to avoid paying unemployment. Plus i think it looks better on them when they say they fire someone instead of putting on their records they have to lay people off...

Active Transportation, Unimark and Auto Truck Transport USA are also sub units of JHT Holdings.
JHT Holdings has shot itself in the foot (both feet actually!) by playing the myriad games involved in attempting to remove union representation from the industry. Thinking JHT's 'business' with 'employee relations contractors' greatly contributed to their bankruptcy a few years back and they can't blame 'competition' as JHT owns the entire segment lock, stock and barrel.
My 'payroll problems' have multiplied since the first of the year; thinking its' because of my strong support for the IBT. Boysen Anderson of the IAM is working in collusion with JHT Holdings to undermine the pay, benefits and working conditions that the unionized driveaway industry fought long and hard for.HeWhoMustNotBeNamed Thanks this. -
i am looking into this drive away truck transport business are companies like unimark and truckmovers good to work with at all. please give me some info on what kind of money drivers bring home and do they keep you busy. what kind of expenses are there. thank you
-
Expenses regarding Unimark/ Truck Movers: first tank of fuel is provided and you are on your own afterwards for EVERYTHING. The one possible exception is return transportation from Canada. Some drivers I've spoken with were provided with or reimbursed transportation expenses while others weren't.
The vast majority last for about 3 trips max. before they quit, stating they actually lost money on the trips. The pay is typically about 50 cents per mile (mover's guide) for a single truck and up to $1.50 for a 4 truck decked set.
Iron Tiger Logistics is a gutted version of Auto Truck Transport, which is a gutted version of Active Transportation. One group owns and runs the entire truck haul industry: JHT Holdings headed by casino owner Dennis Troha.
Unimark = Truck Movers = Carolina Cargo
Carolina Cargo of Rock Hill, SC isn't connected to JHT Holdings as far as I know but attracts the same type of people as Unimark/ Truck Movers.AfterShock, mtd1973p, Kimono_skunk and 1 other person Thank this.
