working for any company based out of California is not a good idea these days. The whole state is headed to insolvency and the businesses are paying for it to stay afloat each year. More and more are leaving the state.

Eventually there will ONLY be Illegal Aliens, the super rich, movie stars, those on welfare, those in the military unfortunate enough to be stationed there and of course, Politicians.

After readin' what'cha wrote 'bout California, the Land-0-Fruits and Nutz, I feel compelled to challenge your perception of the Golden State.
However, after much thought on the subject, I'm more compelled to agree with your assessment.
So, ....... please disregard this post.

As it stands now, folks only think I'm crazy.
If I tried to defend California,
    folks will know for sure.
    I can't let that happen. :biggrin_25512:

    Ahhh..

Only the super rich, the super poor (with the super rich to support them), and illegal aliens (someone's gotta work for the super rich, ya know? Those palatial lawns need mowin'! All paid under the table, of course, to avoid those pesky payroll taxes and regulations).

"The whole state is headed to insolvency." I've been hearing this one for so long that's it's become a bible prophecy ("the lord is coming any day now!") :biggrin_2559:

I actually lived there for many years. Actually, the state is ALREADY insolvement. What is the current debt? 100 Billion? A state technically cannot have that because they do not print their own money. They have no way to back up their debt. So we decided, like MANY middle class families are doing, to leave sunny CA in search of greener pastures.

Now I live in a state where they have had a SURPLUS, DEBT 0, for the last few years and even give money back! They also take LESS to begin with. So I am thinking anyone that enjoys paying for the illegals and their programs out in La Raza nation (CA) can continue to reap the benefits, but I will no longer support the crazy, delta smelt protecting, balloon banning, assault weapon banning (but you can import them illegally if you are a state senator), we want electric cars and spent tens of millions on infrastructure for them (but oh, now that we have been greased enough by the automakers, we will change the law!) hypocritical state. Enjoy it.

    Enjoy we do!

Those illegals make make a nice customer base when they spend those welfare dollars along with what they get under the table from the super rich, y know? Those illegals are just taking over! Folks leaving California sure must understand what the Native Americans felt like. Hopefully, they won't bring diseases we have no immunity to, cause we all (on the other hand, maybe not)know what happened next.

I have to point out that my trucker spouse left a small California company (that's still in business BTW)'for a former California company that moved out of state for those lush and greener pastures that another state is suppose to provide. This same company that was in business over 40 years IN California went belly up mining for fool's gold of moving out of state some time later.

He's now about to sign on with a small and financially solid company based in ...

    Wait for it.

    California.

Better or yet, it's in So Cal. The spouse is tired of driving for out of state companies for a variety of reasons and wants to drive for a company based near home. He can afford to be choosey because I have a good paying job IN California. Nope, not super rich either.

If folks need move out due to whatever circumstances, I understand making choices that are best for oneself and family completely.

Ill end my participation in this discussion by paraphrasing the great American author, Mark Twain, regarding the plaintive bleating of California's demise: "The news of my death has been greatly exaggerated."

    Peace out babies..:biggrin_25519:

(That's California speak for "adios". Oops! I mean "good-bye".)

You obviously love CA, and I do think you have a slight case of denial about the state. That's fine, there have to be a handful there to justify the states existence.

How is Death Valley II, oh I mean Central Valley these days? Still dried up aqueducts and reservoirs to save that stupid delta smelt in the Sacramento river that doesn't even belong there? I remember driving up to Delano on the 99 and seeing the absolute death of the farms there and signs thanking Sacramento for ruining their livelihoods. It was worse on the 5 North through that corridor too.

governor Moonbeam is going to tax you to death to pay for all those debts. He has to do that to keep the state out of junk bond status, so he can borrow more, and you have to wonder if you would be better off in Az or Nv with your company.

The problem is not with the geography, its the crazy government that is allowed to exist there. I think the 5 or 6 state idea is a great one.

You have to take the good with the bad. California is the most worker friendly state in the union. Recently a court there ruled that truckers are not exempt from overtime and similar laws enjoyed by "regular" employees. I'd move there in a heart beat if I had the resources.

I used to roll through their drop yard in Beaverton (OR) on my way to an LTL shipper on the other side of the building. Looked like nice equipment but that apparently doesn't tell the whole story these days. $15/hr in Seattle metro? God that sucks. Old dominion starts newbies right out of driving school at $20.
