Just curious if anyone else on here has had similar experiences with Osborn Transportation. They have got to be in the top 10 worst companies to work for. I have worked there since F&B went bankrupt (about 4 months) and I'm on my last week with them. Here's just a few of the bad things about this company.
1. Dispatchers (load coordinators) seem to be clueless as to where places are and how long it takes to get there. They have no concept of drivers being paid by the mile, don't like to sit and wait...ever.. They obviously think drivers are just idiots and have no clue to anything but turning a steering wheel.
2. Trucks - are just run till they quit and hauled to the junk piles. Old used trucks from other companies that they can get CHEAP!!! No pride can be taken by the drivers because they will just wait until something happens to it and tell you to get a spare and that will be your truck until something else happens. Won't fix anything on the truck unless it's absolutely necessary to run down the road, not really concerned that the driver has to live in it. Cold or Hot doesn't matter. If there is a problem that can be fixed, they want you to do it with no pay or wait until they can send their own tow truck after it. Sometimes that may make sense, but not when it would be cheaper or quicker on the road.
3. Lies - Orientation is 1 day of lying to you about how the company is family oriented and open to suggestions. You will quickly find out that your driver manager will be the only person you will ever get to talk to..ever..No suggestions will be taken from a driver...ever..They will hang you out 50 miles from home but be the first to tell you that family is important...I guess if your not a driver it may be, don't know. Short Haul - Guaranteed $10/hr after 2 hours....lie, after it becomes apparent that you are going to be there very long they will change it to a $35 layover pay. That goes back to the LC's not understanding that waiting is a no no.
This is just a start, I'd like to see who else has had the same experiences...

Does anyone work for this company?
-
My classroom instructor in CDL school had a picture of an Osborn truck hanging up on the whiteboard. It was wrecked and burnt to a crisp. He wouldn't speak negatively about any company. He did however "encourage" us to skip Osborn.

I worked a security posting at a Goodyear facility in Victorville back in '06.
I had two Osborn drivers on different occasions that came into the office in a not-so-good manner.
Other guards would've chalked this up to being a typical driver, I honestly thought that they were being run around and into the ground based on the OPs posting. -
Just cleaned out my truck for the last time with Osborn. Everything you said is dead on. They my driver manager encouraged me to "do what it takes"to get the load delivered on time. and gets a little upset when I don't fudge the log book. I made good money with them but I hate it so much there that I took a 7 cent per mile pay cut to get away.

Pretty much sums of the truth.
I made good $ running loose leaf the 3rd thru 6th yr there.
I was there 7yrs (last 5 was Honda dedicated).
$, hometime, and miles left and the BS got worse.
SO I LEFT -
My husband is suppose to start orientation with this company within the next week. We were excited this he was leaving the company that he works for which is a joke and getting this opportunity with Osborn. I am now concerned.
-
He may want to rethink his decision Carolwood. Do some more research !
-
Carolwood - as I worked there 9 yrs - if he stays below the radar and does his job he will do ok but if he gets in the radar sites he is screwed / also they have junk trucks
-
Thanks for the advice. Anyone know what trucking company is a GOOD company to work for?
