    Arnold/US Xpress truck stolen=driver terminated

After 3 years of driving with Arnold/US Xpress my truck was stolen from the local truck stop while I was on home time. I live only 4 miles from this truck stop and i check the truck on a regular basis. When showing up to start my week my truck was not where I parked it. Long story short it was broken into and stolen. It was found 2 weeks later but the load (ladies shoes) was lost. The truck was locked up, I has both sets of keys here, the trailer had a big bolt type seal on it. I had nothing to do with the theft but I was terminated. Just letting you drivers know that this is the thanks you will get if you are the victim of theft. You might better sleep in the truck while on home time. They said that I didn't use proper securement proceedures. How does one fight this as other companies are saying they can't hire me due to this on my record? Someone else steals it but I'm the one out of a job. Thanks US Xpress.

Many companies don't allow loaded trucks to be parked and left, only unloaded ones. That may be where they had a problem with it. Sorry about your situation.

On the bright side, if there is one, it's easy enough to explain to a potential employer, and you've got solid, steady time.. not a job hopper.

    Was that truck autoshift?

You know how women are about shoes, most cant drive a stick, if it was auto, it was just begging to be stolen.

It was an autoshift. The company always sent us home loaded and expected on time delivery on Monday coming off break. 3 years with no problems.

OK, that's a pretty dumb thing to say, especially since my wife can likely drive a 10 or 13 better than most men, and we have a large number of female forum members who drive.

With 3 yrs experience maybe what wound up happening was a blessing in disguise. Alot of info on this forum leads me to believe that there are major issues with these big carriers espcially looking at your situation. However this might be your time to go local, get better hrs, pay, truck and overall better terms. Whoever did you the injustice of stealing the load will surely get kicked in the #$$ because karma is a female dog. Best of luck going forward and hopefully you get hired soon!
