So I was looking for a good company after being out of the loop for over a year. My work history and driving record are flawless, I left the industry for a while to take care of some family problems and work an hourly job.
Needless to say i looked at the wrong place.
I do not want or need to run like a cowboy, needless to say everyone is just about on elogs anyway. Just want to work a few more years so me and the misses can retire comfortably.
I have never been talked to more rude in my life than their recruiters talked to me. After claiming they didn't have my application for three weeks, after I had confirmation emails FROM MILLIS saying they received it, She HUNG UP on me mid conversation when I asked If I could deliver it myself or mail it to them via USPS. Finally after they CLAIM they received it, I called her one last time and in the usual hurried voice she stated in a VERY rushed and snotty tone of voice "I'm sorry but we're taking better applications!" I then asked her what qualified as a "better application" or their reason for not hiring, a quick sigh and a loud CLICK!...
Just to confirm my suspicions, I had my son (with 10 years under his belt) call them the next week, pretending to be a student in need of training. They were more then willing to spend time on the phone with him, and were courteous and took the time to answer his questions. The best part was when I grabbed the phone from him and asked the same one who hung up on me twice why they don't treat experienced drivers seeking employment with the same level of courtesy. Another long pause and a click.
Sounds like a perfect case for a Equal Oppurtunity lawsuit... What's better is i have the whole thing on tape.
Naw I wouldn't go there, anyplace who treats me like that on the phone to begin with isn't worth my time.
Just another post her to warn potential drivers of another CDL puppy mill. I wonder how much money they are receiving from uncle sam and the american taxpayer to put rookies through their school?
Millis:"We're taking better applications"...add them to the list of bottom feeder.

if i were you id consult a lawyer, sounds like you might have something, one might even be willing to do it and only if they win do they get paid...
id say alot of these bottom feeders have similar policies that are "close" to illegal,or blatantly against the law,but find ways to get away with it. -
The funny thing is though Millis isnt a bottom feeder company. I would love to hear the other side of this story!

As far as Millis being bottom feeder, if what you say is true then its sad they have stooped to this level.
My buddy worked there from 2007-2010 and quit shortly after they went to elogs. His paychecks dropped by an average of close to $100-$200 per week. No he did not stick around for all the "kinks" to be worked out and I do not blame him. No he did not run 100% legal but that is his business. This is another example of the many being punished for the mistakes of the few, as one of their drivers killed someone in NY a year or so prior, watching porn while going down the road.
Their experienced drivers who have been there for years are now lucky to see 3000 a week on rare occasions, even when staying out a full week. Lots and lots of unwanted layover/down time compared to a few years ago.
i was actually thinking about working for them at one point, glad I didn't make that mistake.Lonesome Thanks this. -
As always you get one side of the story and people voice their opinions on that. Who knows why he didn't get hired. They are hiring experienced drivers all the time, not just students. Sure they take students, they have a training school. That's part of their business. Nothing wrong with that.
Not every company is a good fit for every driver. By far they are not an over used term "bottom feeder". What does that term actually mean now a days? A company turns away a driver for hiring and they are called a bottom feeder? Usually it's anger or jealousy of not getting hired and the smack talk begins.Dipschitt, teleman7587, roaddawg92 and 3 others Thank this. -

I noticed you stated that you didn't want to "run like a cowboy", just curious if that was stated on your app?
If so, probably the reason, I don't know of many (or any) 48 state OTR looking for part time or semi retirees these days.
They all will pretty much demand all of 11/70 every week out (even if you usually don't get the "miles" with it).
There are plenty of other options though, why go OTR so close to retirement anyway? -
The majority of posts on this 'Bad' board are from drivers and would be drivers that failed in getting a job or got fired. They rant and they rave and blame the company because obviously how could they be at fault. Always read between the lines and the lines that are missing. There are bad companies but there are hundreds of thousands of bad drivers and applicants, I see them every day and so do you.

There is no case here, zip, zilch nada. Of course you will always find a lawyer that will tell you there is for a $5000 retainer.

What kills me is 5 people "Thanked" this guy. I guess I just don't get the "Thank" option. What do people usually get "Thanked" for? A bad post? A good read? What???
All I got out of this thread is:
He left trucking because he was sick of trucking....atleast that is what Millis is thinking....and why would they hire someone that is going to get sick of it right away as soon as they realize nothing has change in "over a year"?
The OP claims his driving and work records are "flawless".....what about his DAC/HireRight?
There could be SEVERAL things wrong with this guy.
p.s.- I believe recording a phone call without the other party's knowledge is illegal, and inadmissable in court. Why do you think that companies have either a recording statement "Call may be recorded or monitored....", or an actual person telling you "Call may be recorded or monitored....".Dryver Thanks this.
