I work for Gemini. I attended Sage CDL school in Texas. I was hired directly out of school. I was paid 175. a day training pay. The training focuses on gauging tanks, testing the oil, loading the oil, transporting to injection points and procedures with a massive focus on safety. This is not a driving school. You need those skills before applying, be it a first class school or experience. You need to have a high level of common sense, be literate, computer literate and ready to work long hours. You need to be a responsible person, mature and trustworthy. The benifits and salary are good for those who wish to work smart and hard.

And if you're dealing with that type of material (crude, fuel) then you most certainly better have the brains, and common sense, enough to know exactly what you are doing to get the job done. If not go flip burgers at McDonalds.

Good to know all that! I have been emailing with a recruiter, but then she stopped all of a sudden?? Yes, she told me also that my 40 hours refresher course I took at Alvin Community College was enough to come on board. The last time I drove was in 2005 for about 9 months. Still waiting for a call back from her. Pay sounds good, but the other comments I've read about dispatching etc... are discouraging!

I just got off the phone with a recruiter. Here are some information she told me: 10 days or more of training, no orientation, 150/day in training, 12 hour shifts, two consecutive days off per week (except Sat and Sun), average pay per load may be $180 at up to three loads per day supposedly, accessory pay she didn't have figures for (i.e. split fees, wait time, etc...), no load/unload pay, $300 per month for family health, dental, and vision combined, $4000 sign on bonus paid at 90 days and 6 months.

I don't know who you spoke with, but Gemini does not have any "recruiters". Our dispatch does a good job as well. And no, I'm not in management, just an oil tank gauger, oil tester, purchaser and transporter.

The folks I spoke with, from Gemini, were at a workforce CDL job fair in town. Recruiters?
