Ouch I can't believe it that sucks man. So out of the 1200 complaints with the state what is being done about it -nothing- I bet they are in bed with a corrupt politician splitting the money of the grants with them.

Why would you even LOOK at the QC when off duty at home?
Why would you answer a cell phone call while on home time if you do not know the number.
OK I know you didn't answer a cell call. That's a question I put in for any rookie or youngster with one glued to their hand as a lesson.
OK Listen up all Rookies and experienced drivers that don't understand off duty time::: You are at HOME! If the truck is parked in your back or front yard put the keyboard under a pile of blankets so you do not hear the thing beeping or unplug it from the system so it doesn't beep at all! If it's dropped at a truck stop near by you really DO need to cover it so some theift walks by and hears it beeping and knows you are nowhere around and has a nice truck or the contents in it. Just be careful with the blankets because if you put to much weight on a key that repeats when you get back that key thats been pushed for 48 hours is going to keep going untill it gets to the end of the buffer! I did that and it took 4 hours to finally stop so I could use the stupid thing! Unplug it at the connection at the wall!
The same with your PRIVATE cell phone number! If it says unknown, no ID, or the name of the company push the ignore button! YOU ARE OFF DUTY! If it's maybe after the time you wake up on your last few hours at home, answer, but I'll Guarantee that if that/any company calls you at any time before you are about to push the on duty/ready for dispatch button and filling in your HOS they WILL want you to leave home!
Now what does this mean?
If that's it I guess that confirms my do not answer the stupid QC or Cell!
The ONLY other way you can get them to leave you alone is answer the stupid thing and tell them "I'm off duty. I was gone from my home for 2 months. You try it some time and see if you want to leave and besides I just knocked off a nice Jack and Coke mixed in a big 50oz slurpee cup. I think it had a pint of Jack in it)~ Do you really want me to drive within the next however many hours you have before time you told the idiot you would be ready for dispatch?
If it is unauthorized Location you have copies of your logs to send to DAC and if you know this company is a BFI to the core pictures of your request off the screen and their ok and then your other screens that the BFI told you to go home OR the subpenaed paperwork from QC as it's not hard to dispute that one with HireRight/DAC when you have proof!
It seems that these BFI companies are getting a little to free with their drivers the way they get their equipment back to the yard with this BS of thinking their freight is that valuable. I would seriously think of getting your own security for the tractor at the least. Try looking at some of the following...
Get a brake button security lock. It is a shaped piece of steel plate that fits over the red and yellow brake buttons on the dash. It covers both of them and will not let them be pushed in at all! To remove it with out the key means the dash will have to be removed or replaced after the cutting torch or doco grinder pretty much destroys the dash!
Then there is a steering knuckle lock that goes over the knuckle in the steering shaft under the hood. IT will not allow the wheel to be turned and is a PITA to remove!
Chain works great in a few places on the trailer along with glad hand locks. Chain the dolly handle to the leg or remove the handle or chain the push rods on the air chambers so the brakes can't be released or the dollies rolled up unless they have a bolt cutter and of course the ever popular king pin lock and then Lo Jack brake and steering wheel clamps! Anything to make them have to work to get the truck. These also help to keep a thief from driving away with your truck and stuff in the sleeper! A thief will probably have a bolt cutter but a company driver pretty much not!
And to really pee them off, a 9/16 x 3/4 inch shoulder bolt or regular bolt and 2 nuts to lock the trailer doors shut over using a lock will drive them crazy as they will need 2 -9/16" combo wrenches to take that really great lock off the door! No kidding! I use that setup because if a theft does have a bolt cutter they will NOT be cutting a 9/16 inch nut on a bolt that's jammed tightly against the hasp on the door! I have NEVER had a trailer broken into either in NYC or that old truck stop in downtown Laredo where every mourning trailer doors are always open in the mornings or anywhere! Thieves never carry 2 -9/16" wrenches when they are working! That is the cheapest and best way to secure a trailer door! Better than any $50 tempered hasp lock.
make it hard for them to get your truck. do NOT answer a stupid QC when at home and never answer the cell unless you just really really have to see who might be calling you! You are at home! Enjoy the time and screw the company!FreightlinerGuy, trucker43 and rocknsand Thank this. -
because i do remember dispatch saying that they might need the empty so that is now the jest of it.after they came and took the truck they called me and made up some bs as to why they needed the truck.then had the balls to ask me to be rdy for work.they even wanted me to get a bus"they would pay"to atl to pick up a truck.then demanded that i had to rush over to the trl to unlock the kingpin lock for a driver.all i know is i did everything right and tried to be nice and do everything i was supposed to do.it's just bs that this dac system is so easy and 1 sided. -
My wife and I went to work for Marten Transport after trying the hardcore team crap with CR England for 6 months. At England we found we could not sleep very good while the truck was rolling, like I-86 in upstate New York - LOL. Marten had a deal where we could run as "Super Solo". That's where there are 2 drivers but you do solo runs. This way we can pull over and sleep every day. That was good but what we found out about Marten is that they are not the same company as when Roger Marten was running it. Roger Marten passed away in 1993 and his son Randy Marten took over the company. According to older drivers I worked with there that's when things started going down the toilet.
They treated me and my wife pretty much the same way as England did. Useless pieces of crap - drivers are a dime a dozen, etc.. I ended up on probation because I cussed at the dispatcher and the idiots in after-hours. Shortly after that my wife had finally had enough and got off the truck when we were on our 3 day hometime. I drove for another month and a half solo and turned the truck in. They sent my wife a bill for $460 for quitting before the 6 month period. -
To add to my previous post. How do I view working at marten. I consider it as doing hard slow time. Like an inmate in prison serving a sentence. The only drivers here that think marten is a decent job. Are dedicated & the local drivers.
sgt slaughter Thanks this. -

Never accept their rules. If they had any legal ground to stand on, they would never have capitulated to my rebuttal letter so quickly. -
Hey JChors,
how long ago did you do that with the letter ?
They told us that since we signed some bs in orientation that we were legally bound to repay ??? -
whoops i was thinking about working for them after school but i guess not no more
BigKid2 Thanks this.
