1st of all..if you can't take the heat..stay out of the kitchen...

You must be one of those many people who will point fingers in every direction but yourself...it's your fault & only your fault.

If your dispatcher says jump off a cliff..are you going to do it???
    There's a great distinction between doing what's right & wrong .

you are the captain of your ship. #1 WHY DIDN'T YOU CALL YOUR SAFETY DEPT AND REPORT YOUR DISPATCHER? #2 You should of called the DOT and said you are being force to log off e logs and run on paper, knowing FULL WELL, you didn't have the hrs to run legal.
Wake up smeell the coffee, dispatcher could care less whether or not you have the hrs, they just want the load there, and will do everything in their power to get it there, up to and including 'saying' they have your back. If i had a nickle for everytime i read / hear that, i could retire comfortably.

Navajo has 125% turnover when the industry rate is at 49% but the industry rate is climbing. Even the top company's have 60% but at 125% they just don't care and make so much money on having ANYONE in the seat that they probably could care less.

If they call you on cell with shady requests just tell them to send this on the qualcomm. Then the phone will omit a clicking sound as they hang up and try it on the next meat in the seat.

You also do not have to say no. You can say I can cover the load but will have to shut down at xy place and load will need swap or reschdl., Then run your hrs and let them know where you shut down and when you will drive again. And if you can not get it there with your hrs then they will either have to reschedule or relay the load.

If they say you can not accept the load unless you can del on time, then you call safety and ask them why dp is sending loads you can not legally do since dp knows before they send it if you have the hrs to do it.

I used to pu team loads and other drivers where already whining they could not make it. Duh they just wanted us to cover the frt and swap it out down the road. I would ask for my swap when I got about 500 miles in and sometimes they would swap it out and sometimes they would reschedule the del.

If you just say no without giving dp a noose to hang themselves with they will just have you watching the grass grow around your truck as retribution.

Always make it look like you are trying to be helpful while you are getting out of the illegal things they will pull on you.

Is it .26 or .29CPM to start? That seems awfully low for one year experience. Many companies are starting their student drivers in that range.
I'm not sure on the 62MPH governor either. My truck is set at 63MPH for USA and Navajo trucks consistently pass me unless we are on a steep grade and I have a light load. They don't pass me rapidly but steadily. My other concern would be that if you were completely out of hours then you should have had a fairly productive mileage week. Why would you be tempted to run illegally just to make another $50-100? The ticket alone plus the out of service order would cost you more than you made if you got caught. I'm feeling like there is more to the story then is meeting the eye.

I see he is from Douglass, TX. I used to recruit out there. It is a pretty downtrodden little whistle stop town. So at least I can believe and respect that he is trying to work hard to improve.

I'll likely get prodded for this, but one of the main reasons I got cold feet about going back there a second time is their limited selection of tractors.
Volvos, Freightliners and other tractors that have the same width as the sleeper are my preference due to not feeling ackward when attempting to back, as well as their turning radius.
The widespread use of those Kenworths and the high likeliness of getting assigned to one again got me thinking twice.
Other than that, safety seemed to be on the ball and things could somewhat go your way if you were sympathetic, yet firm when it came to requests.

I stayed there for about six weeks before getting a run back to the Tolleson terminal to park the truck.
    Still on good terms anyway.

If someone asks you to do something illegal you just say no. It's not hard. When I was local I had a dispatcher that would try it from time to time and you had to listen to the 30 excuses of why you needed to do it but the answer was no every time. Load planning or lack of it is their problem, not mine.

I've been with an agent (Shippers West) for Navajo for almost a year now, and from what I've seen, Navajo treat their drivers well, I'm not sure what they starting rate is for a new driver(new to the industry) is , but for expirenced drivers the max starting rate is 32cpm. With Shippers West its 36cpm with at least 2 years expirence. I haven't heard any drivers complaining about miles, and I know for a fact they do not run illlegal, but they will run you out of hours, or real close, and with elogs if you're runnning out of hours, then, you're making a little money. Night dispatch send a message out just about every night, asking for help to cover a load, because a driver accepted the load with out checking his/her hours available, but this is the DM's resonsibillity also. Ultimately the driver accept the load. But in any case they will setup a relay if you fall off the load. I know this for a fact because I have baled alot of there drivers out. Their trucks are set at 62 on the pedal, and 65 on the cruise. I've been out here for 27.5 years, and on a scale from 1 to 10 , 10 being the highest, I give Navajo...Driver respect=9, Equipment=9, Miles 9.5, hometime=8.5, getting home ontime =7, health benefits= 4, this is based on what I've seen and heard for the past year. In my opinion Navajo is a good company to driver for.
