This forum is great for helping truckers decide what company to work for. We looked here before choosing KKW. There wasn't much bad posted, therefore we thought they must be ok. I want to put out the facts from what my husband has experienced to help others decide if this is the right company for them. They pay $400 a week for training, including orientation. Training took four weeks because he was a new driver. Since then the pay has been even less. They say their drivers get around 2500 miles per week. My husband gets an average of 1500. Several checks have been under $250. Had we known this, we never would have considered them. They say they pay $28 for excessive delivery delay, however we have never been paid a dime. The checks are 3 weeks out, by the time you see you didn't get paid it is hard to remember exactly what you aren't being paid for. Now we are trying to keep a close eye on exactly what is being paid. We have to keep documenting things in a journal to keep up with it. Even still, have never seen a dime for delivery delay. The dispatch takes hours to get through at times, especially when there is a problem. They will not answer the calls and go home for the night. They will leave you hanging off the side of the road. "just wait until I call you back for instructions" and never call back. They certainly give the impression that they do not have it together. Sometimes the gas card works, sometimes it costs one or two hours delay to get through to dispatch to get them to "open up the card". They have runs that are impossible to arrive in time. Or they have runs that delivery is days later, with drivers waiting unpaid. They do not pay for the first delivery, the second delivery is $15. Just the other day they asked my husband to deliver someone else's load where they paid for under 60 miles ($18). This ended up taking him over 10 hours, when it was all said and done they did not apprecitate it, and I will be shocked if we see anything for the delivery delay. They just dispatched him and the miles alloted are 200 less than actual. How is that even legal? So it seems they are not to be trusted. Now we are in a situation where he is looking for something better, but with less than a year experience it is hard. Quitting seems like a bad choice, still looking for a decent company to work for. But it seems there are just so many bad companies out there taking advantage of new drivers. The truth is that we will qualify for welfare working for KKW.

I just realized that training was supposed to be 2 weeks but ended up to be 3 weeks not 4. Also I would be more specific but I fear in case the company doesn't appreciate my post. I am glad for this forum so I could vent. Also I will be sure to update.

The pay seems pretty bad. I only see KKW on the West coast. Not sure if they leave the western states or not, but if they don't you really can't expect all that many miles from a regional carrier. He probably won't see much of a difference if he does go somewhere else with limited experience. They will just put him back in training for a few more weeks and the miles aren't guaranteed to be there. If he has 6 to 9 months. He may be able to go somewhere else where they wont make him go with a trainer. As the one guy says welcome to the trucking industry. You can't trust anybody. Always double check your pay, and don't think they will be in a hurry to get it fixed either. Detention time is very seldom paid so don't count on it. You can put it on your trip sheet, but you will just get your feelings hurt on pay day. Hope things get better with your husband before you guys lose the roof over your families head.

Say, what's the name of the girls that work in the office, wene I went and applied , the older haggy one made feel like ####. I think here her name was Lydia or linda or somthing. Anyways never missed it

Worked with way better people and better jobs. I guesss thing happen for a reason. You'll get over it.
But like any other job, you not going to start at the top. Expect the worst and if you go anywere else expect the same. No one tells you that in this industry you find out, actually they're probably happy see you come in so you can take over they're #### work.

Your guy will haft put in some #### for a while its just the way it is. Looked I started with swift, I not only got #### on by the company but the truckers in the industry dumped a double heep on mejust for working with swift. But it served its purpose. I learned how to drive , I appreciate good jobs and work hard to to keep them.
Like a lot of bad companies. I here the drivers are pretty good . I talked to a few, always seemed ok.

It's good that I never got the chance to work for them I guess. Good luck and hopfully some new fish will come in and help eleminate some of the pain and take over some of your guys #### job's.

The two women I'm talking about was the older one and a younger one, the younger one just seem to keep to herself the old hag would make feel like ####. Just the way it works. Most of the time. Good cop bad cop type of deal.
And just like that you'll find the same thing all over the industry. What they say to you in orientation pretty much goes right out the window once you hit the road.
Talking about it not gonna make it anny better.

Wishful, Tell me some things about months on the road issues behind the wheel, and stuff like that there are several companies that may take him on, Where are you located? What does he want to do? I think KKW is Dry Box is that what he wants to do? Tell all of us more about what he has under his belt and what is he looking for? We are all here to elp each other and this forum gives us the leisure to hide behind a surname or ID We don't know who you are the cats at KKW Don't know who you are, They don't get on here, They are to stressed out to care anyways, 20 years ago KKW was a good company, I wonder if it passed to the next generation who were fed with a silver spoon and never really learned to work it like your life depended on it like it did for their parents!. Let us help you. Cheers!

Everything you just described could fit 100 other companies. Most companies that pay detention only pay it after sitting for 2 hours and that is IF the customer pays it and you had an appointment that you were not late for. If it was an open delivery time then tough luck.

Not meaning to be rude or mean, but despite reading about companies, you apparently never read anything about being a new driver. There is alot to learn. When I started off, my company only ran me maybe 1800 miles a week for a while because they were watching how I handled myself and the truck, paperwork, Qualcomm, and procedures. Give it some time and just focus on increasing you skills.

You guys dont have enough experience to be able attract any employers that will be any different and job hopping that early looks bad

Most companies dont pay for the first drop.
Alot of companies pay their mileage zipcode to zipcode. The miles will always be off. Even more so if they send you out of route to fuel.

Thanks for the advice. We are going to have to suck it up to make it in this business. "Full Speed" is right about the dispatcher. That cracks me up. She has your life in her hands, so it's scary. I never mentioned they start pay at .31 pm. They are mostly West coast. He has gotten a bit better miles the last couple of weeks so maybe it will get better. Hopefully they will pay on the mileage discrepancy. You guys know that is another 10 hours off plus miles. Guess we won't know until three weeks later. I would say more but my posts are not approved. So maybe they are just as bad as some of the other companies.
