Well, you have now. And the dude ain't lying. And this is not aimed strictly at exiting drivers either. Switching merely from the old truck I was in into a Brand new truck I got charged. I didn't let it go cause I turned the truck in much cleaner than it was issued. I worked up the chain and got my money back. And I fought for the principal of it, not so much the $133.00. We can all overcome that.

Any company that takes any type of ESCROW account is most likely going to try to cheat you out of it when you leave regardless of how you leave, good or bad, clean or dirty! I am the cleanest person in a truck I know, no shoes in bunk, ever! I usually carpet the floor myself so I don't have to walk in others dirty foot prints and the only company I ever worked for that had an escrow tried to beat me out of it too... I had pics from before and after and had to go through the steps to the top to finally get my money.... my reward for such diligence??? They tried to ding me on my DAC!!! It's on them though, I sent DAC my response and had it removed in less then 3 weeks....
Sucks to work as hard as we all do, travel and stay away from loved ones only to get treated like crap after we go, especially when we play by their rules!!! Only in this industry I guess.... -
So, at 6 years seniority, he tells me he is in the high 50's to low 60's gross yearly. He said he was never under low 50's since the beginning.
Two things though:
1). He was hired as an experienced driver.
2). He runs 4 or 5 weeks out, and takes an entire week off. He has it set up with them that way. He leaves the truck at the nearest terminal (which is like 4 hours away), but the truck is not used during that week----he does NOT slip seat.
He has 20 years in the industry, and has had his share of jobs, and says Crete is by far the best match FOR HIM.
Now if he were to leave and Crete tried to charge HIM for cleaning out the truck.....then I KNOW they are just ripping people off---because he is the cleanest, most obsessive, non-smoker I have ever, ever met.skibum_63 Thanks this. -
I know of whom you are referring to, And your are correct in all accounts about him.

I would agree that low 50s 1st year at Crete is doable if you're willing to run. I am on pace for that my first year here.

It's all good. I'm done being the good guy. Being the nice guy doesn't pay off. I did everything right.but I see how these companies want to play so next time it's all about ME. All about covering MY bases. Screw a 2 weeks notice. If I leave, I clean it out, give them the truck and go about my business. Congrats thieving trucking companies, you've created yet another driver that doesn't trust any of you. -
That's okay I don't work for Crete but I would feel sorry for their drivers if they did implement something like that and you bare right I wouldn't put it past any of the me gas either. Pretty soon they will all start doing something like that. And say it is a privilege to drive one of their trucks. I will say if I were a company driver I WOULD take a .02/mile cut in pay for a truck that wasn't governed, and I would also take a cut in pay of .03/ for a truck that had a horsepower rating of 525+. And would take a .02/mile cut for paper logs. With those I've effectively lost .07/mile. But I can run a hell of a lot more miles. Give me that and the loads and I'd happily take the pay cut and then drive the wheels off the truck lol. -
How much are you willing to spend in order to recoup this $150 charge?
paparas and truckinmike1984 Thank this. -
xlsdraw Thanks this.
