Hey there, I'm new to trucking and was wanting to know if anyone knew anything about Schneider National. I haven't heard hardly anything bad about the company like I have some other companies. I was interested in going flatbed at first but had a buddy inform me of his horrible experience at McElroy Truck Lines. I decided to go with Schneider because I want to start out Regional, so I'd like to get home time every week starting out. I start my orientation on Dec 3rd in Atlanta, GA. Is there anyone else attending this orientation on the same day? Does anyone out there know anything about Schneider National that could help me and if it's not the place to work for point me in the right direction.
Schneider National, Orientation next month.

First why did you post this in the bad company section?
SNI is like any other big company, it is what you make of it. I use to drive regional, home every weekend. Miles were good and the pay was decent, but I wasn't out of Atlanta. The OC you are out of can make a huge difference. I don't know much about the Atlanta OC except that the last time I was there, it was small, but I heard the expanded it.
Call Maverick. They will be the same as SNI. So pick and choose.pattyj Thanks this. -

Schneider has always been good to me I get miles and I attended training at the Atlanta OC they have great instruction and great instructors. A great place to start

I have driven for both. They are NOT the same. No one from Maverick ever lied to me or was abusive. I was rarely told the truth at Schneider and people have been killed for doing less than what Schneider did to me.
I recommend he calls Maverick. -
You are correct though it doesn't matter which mega carrier you go to you're going to end up with the same crap different company.
OP...here's what you can expect at any mega.
YOU WILL be lied to (that's any company actually at some point in time)
YOU WILL BREAK DOWN!
YOU WILL GET PUSHED HARD AT TIMES AND OTHERS YOULL SIT FOR A DAY OR 2 OR 3
YOU WONT BE APPRECIATED (they have new students coming in next week to replace you)
YOU WILL HAVE AN UPHILL BATTLE
YOU WONT HAVE FUN
YOU WONT GET PAID GREAT
YOU WONT GRT OVERTIME
YOU WILL HAVE JUNK EQUIPMENT (if it ain't the tractor it'll be the trailer)
YOU WILL MAKE MISTAKES
YOU WILL LEARN!!!
Mega carriers are stepping stones to get you experience. They don't pay very well, they run driver off, and they treat you like dirt. That's how it goes there. Put in your 12-24 months and find a better job. Stick it out at least 6 months though no matter how bad. It looks better than changing jobs every 3 weeks. Keep your head up grit your teeth and bear it. Trucking isn't an easy life and trucking will become you're life eventually. You'll understand what I'm talking about after a while. You'll also find out weather you're cut out for it or not. If its in your blood you'll make it if not you'll be gone in 6 months or a year. Out of 20 students 19 quit within a year. Out of 100 students 7 maybe 8 actually make truck drivers and make a living of it everybody else quits.
Sounds like you don't know much about trucking and what to expect. Check out the other sections of the forum especially the new drivers section. It'll give you a lot of info on what to expect. One mega to stay away from is CRE (C R england). Good luck and don't be a stranger.Pound Puppy, Drac1985, needmoney and 3 others Thank this. -
