Yep. We did not hold our drivers hands those days they got those. They forgot to take their CDL with them or their physical. We should have went home with them and made sure they had everything in their wallet. We failed those days. Won't deny we had a good run of bad luck the past couple of years but our audit proved we are doing everything right to recoup from that. We got the elogs the last part of 2013. Yep. We love the alerts. They sure help. We don't push our drivers or ask them to run illegal. Our drivers for the most part have log violations for them not completely filling out their log. Leaving a commodity off or not putting a recap. Again. ####. We should hold their hands.

i would love to know your company name also. Because speaking with insurance companies and large companies and even speaking with the FMCSA we are not alone with our issues we are having. Finding quality drivers has become a rare thing these days. Our older ones are our best ones for sure.

Does your company have a log dept?Drivers are always in violation with elogs and paper logs and they will receive warnings for it.If you don't so something about your drivers you're going to always have problems..Sadly enough, part of your job is to hold drivers hands. You have to know whos breaking the law, well wake up and do something about it.Problem with this broken industry is its all about money, safety is when you have time.

Yes we have someone who checks logs. We had the JJ Keller log checker before the switch to elogs also. We hold their hands as much as we can but we cannot physically call or text each driver each morning to make sure they have their license or medical card. We also can't remind them each day to fill out their paperwork as they should. These are all things a professional truck driver should know without a reminder. As mentioned above, we have a three strikes your out on all violations. Third warning on a dot inspection, no matter what it is or how minor, they are out. First and second they get a hefty fine.

Well do what other companies do,route that driver to the terminal or wherever you are and then talk to them.I agree professional drivers shouldn't have to be reminded. The key word PROFESSIONAL.Are your drivers professionals or steering wheel holders?

The series of tests and backgrounds on them they should be professional. I am just chalking our a scores up to bad luck. It has never been this hard to find drivers either as it has been this last couple of years.

Blame that on the government. It's only going to get harder to find good qualified drivers with every passing year.

Yep. After sitting through our audit and fighting to get stuff off our CSA we have learned how hard it is getting. But some things the drivers can preven themselves. And this is across the board after having conversations with so many others.

ladyredtazz, you keep saying that you issue your driver's hefty fines. Why not bring them in and help them with whatever log problems they are having. It sounds like you would rather have the money from these fines than anything else. I would never work for a company that takes money from my paycheck for a simple human mistake. It's no wonder you can't get or keep good driver's.

I'm sure they're more interested in their CSA score than the fine for log errors. we went that route for a but. You get CSA points during an inspection, we take 150 bucks. That want a deterrent. Training seemed to be not worth the efforts either as most that needed training didn't want to learn. Maybe 20 percent improved with training. The only thing that got results for us was the threat of losing your job. It always seemed funny that when training was an option guys just couldn't learn it, but when you say if you keep it up we have to let you go, they'll learn it in 5 minutes 1200 miles away from the office
