I work for Transam my issue is the dispatchers and supervisor tell me no to go on duty to swap trailers which require me to operate a tractor to drop to pickup swap trailer. Is this not on duty work
I concerned if I get hurt they will deny workman comp. I'm a company driver who is swapped constantly.

ask TranScam this.. "so you want me to lie about my duty status"?
them ask Mr. DOT if you can change trailers while off dutytransam34, Lonesome, scottied67 and 2 others Thank this. -
if you run e-books why would you want to go on duty & waste time.so if your 14 hour work window is up ,you would not swap untill 10 hours later.
teqntexas, truckinmike1984, Lonesome and 1 other person Thank this. -
transam34, you will find many TransAm drivers, current and former, here - http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...s-the-inside-scoop/254921-trans-am-still.html. They will be happy to answer any questions and help in any way that they can.
Generally speaking, I believe that so long as you are not on home time, are on the road, conducting company business and responsible for company equipment you would be covered in the event of any injury.
EL GUAPO GUERO is correct ....it is to save your time and get you moving sooner. -
I would definitely talk to logging and/or safety. They may even be able to conference in your dispatcher.
skyviper73 and transam34 Thank this. -
"I certify these entries are true and correct" is what you are putting your name to,under the penalty of perjury, when you sign your log book..There is no spot on the log to say that the company ask me to lie about my HOS...The logbook is 100% on you...ALWAYS ...
Western flyer, transam34, freightwipper and 2 others Thank this. -

123456 Thanks this. -
I assume you're swapping trailers at the beginning of your shift and not driving on public roads otherwise you'd already be on duty. With that assumption I wouldn't go on duty to swap. Why waste time?
truckinmike1984 Thanks this. -
There telling you to cheat plain and simple! When a dot officer
asks you how you keep changing trailers without showing any
time on duty for doing it I hope you got a good answer.
there ain't gonna be nobody from your company to call and
bail you out while your sitting in the scale house trying to
make up some lame excuse when everybody involved knows
exactly what and why you where doing it.freightwipper Thanks this. -
2 threads to ask the same question?
you need to be on duty to do a pti anyway
be on duty as long as you want
you only get paid for driven miles
so protecting your hours to maximize the paycheck is something you need to learn
or go find a job that pays hourly
just another dirty lil secret in the industrykirk and truckinmike1984 Thank this.
