Millis Transfer of Black River Falls, WI was a good company to work for for many years.

Millis isn't what it used to be.

After the most recent Millis Brother was arrested for a DUI in Black River Falls (not the first), they've been taking it out on the drivers.

They installed video cameras in all trucks. 2 cameras, one facing forward, the other on the windshield facing the driver.

They claim: If you're not doing anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about... and Don't worry the camera comes on during a critical event.

What they don't tell you is that the camera and microphone also come on whenever they want it to, or that they will leave it on for hours at a time, or that they watch you live, just like "FaceTime" on your cell phone.

These guys have made micro-management an art.

I call them spy-cams because they video and audio record you at times that they deny doing it. They claim they only record you during "critical events" i.e.: hitting your brakes too hard.

Drivers brought this all on themselves. Too many distracted driving accidents, some major involving death. Too many drivers can't single-task (drive well), let alone multi-task (drive well and text)

I would not work for such a company, personally. At some point they may ALL have these cameras, but until that day, move on and make it known to these carriers that these continual intrusions and nanny systems have a real man-power availability cost, over and above the hardware, installation, and operational costs of these various "safety systems"

Believe it or not, but the nazis at the NHTSA have proposed having these in all trucks, operating whenever the truck brake is released. Plus, they want the companies to employ people to watch these. Talk about a boring job.

According to your logic, might as well put a camera in every car across the U.S. for "safety". Hell, might as well go as much as installing a camera in your eye to make sure you do not drive high/drunk, steal, etc. In the name of "safety", let's violate your privacy.

Trucking will soon be like the FAA and flying .
####pit recorders , cams , they are even talking real time
    health monitors in the future.
    No escape

Got my start with Millis about 10 years ago
their school was good , but other than that they
are a highly over rated outfit.

The Brothers were known for their folly
going way way back after they inherited
    the company.

There is a big difference between bone headed management decisions and making those mandatory with the force of the US government. Millis will find out after they pay a couple of huge legal awards after the plaintiff's lawyer during discovery asked for the camera footage which clearly shows their driver texting, cb mike in hand, coffee in the other and a picture of a naked woman on his dashboard calender.

If they're doing their jobs they'll be able to identify the incidents and remove those drivers, and or change their habits, before the big one happens. That end game of the camera in the truck is to increase safe driving, and reduce accidents.
