    As a former employee of Volunteer I would encourage all who read to seek employment elsewhere!!!

    This company has no idea on how to take care of their drivers. It has no integrity, moral fiber or perhaps the most important COMMON SENSE!!!
    The planning and dispatch team is a joke, There is not a one of them that has an idea on what drivers do or do for them. A great example..... A TEAM will get a load to South Plainfeild NJ from Nashville TN which takes what 16-18 hrs.. and upon arrival the Team will sometimes have to wait 8-12hrs for a return load. WTH?!?!?! And you will NOT get paid for the wait time .
    They will not pay a driver for the following== Layover-Detention-Breakdown-Etc.......
    The communication is a joke. No delivery times No pickup times, If you ask what the paid or empty miles are you will not get an answer..
    And I dont have enough time or space to get into the "Safety Dept." or the Maintenance Dept..


    If you like being treated like gum on a shoe, and want to make less then a fastfood worker then disregard this post

    Is Volunteer an actual trucking or freight company, or is it another type of company with a fleet of their own trucks?

    What is the location of Volunteer?

    What trucking company do you currently work for? Lord willing that it is much better than what you described Volunteer to currently be like.

    Volunteer Express the home terminal is in Nashville Tn . and they have 7 yards across Tn . They only haul LTL freight , its the only freight they can haul. no one else with work with them.
    me and the wife ran a team and never broke moer than 3000 miles a week

    I called them about a job once. They offered me $12 per hour as a local P&D driver, 50 hours a week all straight time (NO overtime pay). I laughed and hung up.

    today at im starting a new local job delivering milk to Kroger stores in the southeast. The company is based out of Cleveland TN. My wife is still driving OTR for Big G for the time being.

    i was so burnt out driving OTR. My wife will probably transition to something local very soon too, whether it be a driving job or something different.

    First Fleet? Howard Baer used to do Kroger milk also.
    If you ever want tanks try Rodgers Cartage in Chattanooga. Run down terminal but real good money.

    Ive spoken to Rogers. They rarely are hiring for local positions because no one ever leaves. I would love to get on with them if possible one day.
