Is it me or are most FedEx drivers bad drivers? Just finished a 2900 mile run from North Carolina to Portland, Oregon, with some of the most challenging conditions in my 10 year career, and of the many truck wrecks I saw, half of them were FedEx trucks pulling doubles. The majority of bad truck drivers were FedEx also. They seemed not to care about conditions or anything else. Whats up?

I think its the trucking industry. Majority of us are good drivers but you have the bad apples. I do notice Fed x drive fast

but the LTL and freight guys fun 65-66mph -
Probably just trying to get that package there on time....I have noticed the same thing!

There is a couple of reasons why they might be wrecking their trucks. Unlike my company their drivers are always under pressure to be on time not matter the conditions they are driving in. I used to haul FedEx loads a few times and their scheduling does not allow for slowdowns due to winter driving conditions or backups waiting for wrecks to clear. I was told once that FedEx loads don't shut down and to find a way around closed roads or to keep rolling through a blizzard etc etc. Naturally I make my decisions on when to drive or not, no matter what some desk jockey says and the drivers that wrecked probably didn't.
Poor decisions by drivers is a big cause of wrecks in the winter months not just bad drivers. I don't expect some driver from Florida who comes here to the NW for the first time to have the same ability to judge the conditions and whether to drive or not so I never look down on a driver who will not roll when I might because each driver should be aware of their ability's and the load they have and decide for themselves when it is safe to move the truck.
No load is worth your life and or career and working for FedEx in the winter could put both in jeopardy if you let their desk jockeys tell you how to drive your truck. -
Fed Ex drivers and bull haulers are in the same boat. The loads just cannot wait. My hats off to those who will do it and I hope they are paid royally for it.

I've noticed for some time now that FEDEX doubles are the most dangerous doubles on the road. They go insanely fast downhill and (of course) very slow uphill.
It is so frustrating for me to drive around them. You know, its like a rat race--they pass me on the downhill, i pass them on the uphill, they pass me on the downhill, i pass them on the uphill, and on and on. I just let them around now. They seem like a bunch of supertruckers, always in a hurry. -
Well, on the downhill they're just trying to make up the time they lost on the climb.
