Link America .BAD

I don't want to sound like a disgruntled employee, but here i go. I just quit Link America finally after 4 years. I was driving a 97 freightliner with 1.5 million on it. I was in the shop at least 5-20 hours a week getting the thing worked on. I was not alone the division i worked for had 100 plus trucks just like this. My final day came when i was doing my pre trip and noticed fluid coming out of my steering box. I called dispatch and informed them i was taking my truck to the company shop, which was 30 miles away. When i got there the mechanic informed me the need to put a new box on it and it would be the afternoon before i could get it fixed. I once again called dispatch and told them i would not be able to get my designated load to the destination in time, unless they had a spare truck around that i could use. Their remarks to me was " Its only 340 miles to the destination cant u just drive it on through". I said i do not feel safe driving this unit, and he informed me that if i didn't get it there on time i was fired. Now dont think there is more to this story I was there for 4 years and no violations no tickets nothing. And i am not alone they are doing this stuff to several drivers. Beware of working for these guys

Sorry to hear these cheap bas#@rds treated you like that. Noticed they had a big add looking for drivers here the other day. Looks they are associated with a couple of other outfits. Lane Frgt, and some others I can't remember.Of course the add made sure and said they only had new FL's and did in house repairs to keep the drivers and customers happy. Make sure they don't ding your DAC and get away with it. You'll hook on with a better company soon.

I am not worried about that, Within 4 hours and 2 phone calls i had a better job. You just have to make sure when you go to work for a company to do some research on them. The company i worked for was a real good company in the beginning . However we was bought out by Link America thats when it started to go downhill. Link America i think owns around 7 or 8 different trucking companys. Just check on them first to see who actually owns the company you are working for

This outfit seems to be a team of Ivy leaguers who go around buying small regional company's with venture capital.

Bean counters who could care less about the needs of truckers.
LinkAmerica Acquisition Strategy

LinkAmerica is acquiring regional truckload carriers that are strategically positioned in the markets they serve and that have proven track records of providing on-time, reliable delivery services.
LinkAmerica is also acquiring third-party logistics companies, which will complement the regional carriers by providing the following services for shipper customers: (i) complete or backup outsourcing for customers who desire to transfer all or part of their traffic departments to a third party; (ii) freight bill auditing; (iii) freight brokerage, (iv) returnable container management, (v) expedite services and (vi) public warehousing.

I would have to agree with you totally. I talked with my old dispatcher today and he told me at the start of the year they had 230 drivers. Right now there is 95 left. That should really tell you something

Just to top all this off. I should of got paid today for the last week i worked there. My paycheck was not direct deposited so i called them today. They said they have the right to hold a paycheck for up to a month. I asked them why, they just said it was company policy. I turned my truck in and all the equipment that belonged to them, i even took pictures of the truck so they could not say it was dirty and they still do this to me, What jerks

Check your state laws. They DO NOT have the right to hold your last paycheck. You have to be paid on the usual date that you would have been paid. You need to push them on this. If you worked those days, they HAVE to pay you on the scheduled date.

Definitely, call your state labor board and talk to them..
Here in "wonderful" Taxafornia if you quit and this is a "right to work state" have no more than 3 days to get your final pay to you or they have to pay you for every day that you would normally work until they do. If more people filed complaints against "BAD"
employers when stuff like this happens, more states will take notice and start going after these MORONS..................
