if ppl are worried about a whiz quiz versus a hair test, maybe your best job should be asking " would you like fries with that".:biggrin_25513:

Actually, your statement on where the hair is typically collected from is not even close to being true! How do I know this? Because I've performed 100s of hair collection in a previous life.

Hair from parts of the body other than the head are used ONLY when an adequate sample can't be collected from the head.

Then it goes to chest hair, maybe underarm hair (but many collectors won't collect underarm hair) and public hair(most collectors won't collect from this area) and fingernails/toenails (for people with medically verified severe alopecia).

BTW, just FYI, if you're shaving your head to try to beat the test, you're screwing yourself.

Hair from the other parts of the body grow much slower than head hair.

So, all you're doing by shaving off your head hair is just increasing the detection window from 90-days up to as much as 6 months.

I'm thinking of apply there after the first of the year. I let my hair grow out during the winter ,and I have tons of body hair. They can have all they want . I am totaly against drugs . I never took that path in life . and for those of you who did.I recommend you stay on the trucking industry.remember that you share a road with all of us and our families.

Dropdeck, sounds like you might be a good fit for TMC, for those wondering They do the standard urine test and have their own doctors they send you to. Yes they do randoms urine and breath. If you have a history of injuries and workman compclaims its gonna be hard to get on anywhere let alone a flatbed company .

The testing that you describe here are MANDATED by DOT.

Some companies do hair testing in addition to the required DOT-regulated testing.

The Gryphon ....forgive me if I am wrong. I am under the impression that you think I shave my head to get out of taking drug test .I have been shaving my head for over 20 years every summer .I have been a professional truck driver for over 12 years. I just don't want to show up at a doctors office to find out that they want hair from my head and I don't have any to give .I have taken more random drug test then most students have in backup miles . I have never had a reason to get out of a test. if I am wrong my apologies to you

My apologies if I sounded as if I were saying that YOU were shaving your head to try and get out of taking a drug test.

My comment was intended as a general comment to those who may be reading this and thinking that they can get out of a hair test by getting rid of their head hair.

I have seen countless people who thought they could do so and get out of the test.

Most of the employers that I worked with would just tell me to send them on their way if they showed up with a shaved head, especially if they had hair when they went through the interview process. :biggrin_2559: :biggrin_2559:

But, there was the occasional person who legitimately didn't have have head hair, or routinely shaved their heads. We would notify the employer and they would tell us whether they wanted us to use hair from another part of the body.

On a couple of occasions we encountered donors with severe alopecia and collected fingernails for analysis.

We hired a new driver last summer 3 out of 5 guys failed the failed the pre hire drug test . I think that it is sad people let drugs stand between them and providing a income for families. Sorry if I came off the wrong way ...had a long day yesterday

sorry to hear that you where trained the worng way at TMC. I know seeing that Im a trainer for them and thats not the ways thing are to be done. Also your trainer never told you that you need to talk to your fleet manager and tell him or her what you can get done. But in the same case you as a driver new or old to the trade you should have told your trainer that you were that beat and a good trainer would be able to work with that. I as a trainer would be pissed if i had a driver that would drive that beat.

What is with some of tmc's crazy rules? I worked there for about six months and each time I had service done on my truck I would be written up for the most insignificant bs. To many cig lighter power adapters plugged in( included gps, sat radio, and phone charger). Dirt on driver floor mat, unproved items in truck...after they went through all my belongings they put several magazines(maxim, newsweek, popular mechanics) a book I was reading my Bible my rosary my St. Christopher medal a couple movies I had in the truck and my 12volt beverage warmer in a box saying they had to be removed from the truck b/c they were unapproved materials. Needless to say I decided tmc was not for me and got a job w/ a smaller family oriented company in my hometown.
