I am trying to gather information (good or bad) about First Express in Nashville TN, firsthand or otherwise.
They seem to be low key, which may be good. There are no negative reports about them on ripoff either.
Since they have a few hundred trucks, I was thinking we might have a current or former driver on here. Or even if you know somebody that does or has driven for them.
Just doing some research for a friend. Any help from yall would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

If you still have any questions, our recruiters are honest to a fault and you can always ask to talk to our president or any other management. I know this is 3 years old but I am a little late to the site! :)

No disrespect but in 17 years, I have yet to meet or talk to an honest recruiter. These people are paid to get truckers to sign on with the company they work with so they will tell you what ever they have to in order to get you to sign on the dotted line. I really wish this was not the case but it is and anyone who has been trucking long enough knows how the game is played.

Recruiters promise you heaven but you find out once your behind the wheel, its pure hell!

None taken, I understand what you are saying. We judge our recruiter by more than just the number of people she can get into an orientation. It costs more to have someone for 2-3 weeks who quits because they didn't know something important. While we definitely aren't perfect, we do try to be different and it rubs some people the wrong way. I would rather have an empty orientation than 3-4 people who aren't around in a year.

THEY STEAL from their Drivers - they are inflexible with which Dealership you take the truck to (Lavergne, TN only) - (Operationally) they force you to operate Illegally i.e. want you to finish a delivery while on your break - And you will have Fatigue Issues with running through-out the Night from 2200 to 1200 shifts on Kroger Loads possible - FORCE DISPATCH!!! - unable to be flexible with how you are Fatigued - they will shut your truck down for Repair or Oil-change and want you to log it as in the Sleeperberth when you've been out of the truck - They charge you up to $1000 per any occurrence of any damage whether it's your fault or not (there word vs. your word)- the owner assumes no responsibility for the liabilities of hiring a Driver - auto calculates an inconvenient Fuel stop on your required route - Averitt is the better option of this 3-headed monster (First express, First Fleet, and Averitt) - best options in this Area 1. Big G express 2.Interstate Dist. 3. Crete

what i meant by Illegal is ; they tell you to Off-duty drive then they change it back to On-duty driving which makes a violation - another illegal driving would be at a location and do some action while in Sleeperberth

I know big g now pays a couple more cents per mile but you guys run a lot of north east and mostly short runs...less than 700 miles while sec does not do northeast and runs a lot to west coast.

it depends on what you are looking for in driving...

the employee owned bit is kind of a farce because the original owners still run the place but got the employees to buy it from them and allow them to still stay in control.

there is nothing wrong with the company .. they have improved a lot in the last year as has sec .. it just is a matter on how and where you like to run.

we run quite well and get all the miles we can run legally...

    drvrtech77 Thanks this.
