HAHAHHAHA I may just have to steal that quote and put it in my sig!!.. yep I am hahaa.. You know they are 110% of it! -
But anyways, its not about the money, its about atleast for one week "acting" like you give a crap about what we sacrifice by working out here. Even though we know they are lieing through their teeth when they tell us, atleast it shows they took the time to do it.
Hell I had 3 different shippers give me stuff, kraft gave me 3 packs of Oreo cookies, Levi Strauss gave a lil gift bag with some pens and stationary and a $5.00 coupon for their online store. and had another customer invite me over to eat a BBQ they were having catered for their local drivers. YUM!
These were shippers/consignees what did ours do... Not a dang thing!mtnMoma Thanks this. -
yeah I just had a cons give me a free hotel room for the night!!! I never had a job that had employee appreciation...never really cared...and I never expect it...but I have had jobs with perks of tons of free ####...Sprint gave me free phone service and the manager would toss me a free phone about every 3 months just because I was awesome and the best phone fix it guy (yeah I was the dude behind the glass telling you your phone was liquid damaged)... but this is still the easiest job I have ever had..

Hey I just thought I'd tell ya'll, I did get home on time. I just finished reading the other posts on this thread. It seems most of us have the same plight; a lack of compassion, sincerity, empathy, true appreciation, and most important of all, being shown these things.
I requested an extra two days this time around to help my parents clean up what's still a big mess from Irene, and help them prepare for winter. My FM wasn't in yesterday when I called in, but it seems they went ahead and got those two days approved. When I call in to get info about my load coming out of the house, I'm going to make a point to thank them for getting that done.
After my first 36 days out after evo 3, I took a minute to tell my FM that I think they did a good job communicating and handling my issues. I thanked them for it. The reply was "I'm just doing my job" with something of a scoff.
Not once have I heard "good job", "way to go", "thank you" (for a specific thing, like recognition) from my FM. Sure I get a "thanks" tacked on to a qualcomm message every so often, but more often than not it seems more like a punctuation. If something is brought up it's "your mpg sucks" or "someone called in on you".
I do, however, get stuff like that from maintenance, shippers/receivers, other drivers, passers by on the street, etc... Sure we get the blanket "Thanks for a job well done." voice mail once in a while, but why does decent human interaction seem so rare between a dispatcher and a driver?
I've said it once, but it bears repeating. I like Roehl, I like trucking, and I know there's bull#*$% to deal with, just like any job. I would just like to see a little more on the side of a positive, constructive working relationship.otherhalftw and mtnMoma Thank this. -
OH BTW........ATTA BOY! GREAT ATTITUDE!Mattkujata and mtnMoma Thank this.
