I have a valid Indiana CDL-B with school bus, public transport, air brakes, tanker, motorcycle and hazmat endorsements. I also have a valid CDL-A learner's permit.
Roehl will require me to get a Wisconsin driver's license when I graduate from their school. I will then need to get my Indiana license back.
Is there anyone out there who has been through this process?
Will I need to take all nine written tests and the three skills tests again?
This is a deal-breaker for attending an out-of-state school!
Thank you for your help.
This board has been a Godsend to me over the last two years as I try to get my foot in the trucking door.
Looking for any Indiana residents

no your not going to have to take all the tests again...you will take the wisconsin test get your WI licence and then transfer it as if you moved from one state to the other...so no you wont have to take all the tests again

Thank you Mic. Did you actually do this in Indiana?
I hate to press the point, but I do not want to take a chance on losing my Indiana DL. -
nope call your dmv, they are reciprocal with WI and just transfer it for a fee, Illinois, CT and MA wont... all others do...

It's all good. I did it in '08. The only problem I had was getting flagged by Homeland security for getting a WI license on Friday then getting an IN license on Tuesday. They cleared it up and it was all good. Did take N extra 30 minutes or so though.

Oh this is dumb but you will have to take the basic driving written test again since it's like you are a new resident, but not the CDL portions. lol, makes a lot of sense I know.

You should have no problem. Also there is no "air brake" certificate. That is just part of the regular test.
