I have been a SNI O/O for over two years. I have been on the choice board since day one. I brought my own truck to SNI and ran that until it hit nearly a million miles and it was time to replace. I shopped outside SNI and also looked at what SNI Finanace had to offer. After much consideration and watching the trucks that SNI offered I settled on a used truck with 200,000 miles from SNI. I found it cheaper to lease it thru SNI than buy the same truck outside of SNI from a dealer with the APR they offer. I have over 700 on my credit score and they just don't offer great APR's. I will answer your question honestly and without prejudice. The choice board had alot of positives but it also had drawbacks. For example: on the choice board a driver only recieves detention after 6 hours while the legacy board and company drivers get detention after 2 hours. This sucks but it is thier policy.

I went used the weekly payments on a new truck are absurd. I bought a two year old Cascadia from them and I pay $401 a week. I turned down all their silly escrows, catastropnic failure, maintenance. I pressed the issue and they admitted they were not required. If you do this you had better be smart with money and save for maintenance on your own. If you buy a truck under 500,000 miles you get a warranty on engine, tranny and diffs. Many people fail and quit thier leases. If you are patient you will find the right used truck. I waited 4 months for them to get the truck that met my requirements, under 3 years old, under 300,000 miles under $80,000 and had a tripac.

You can get your insurance thru SNI. It is competitive with outside agencies. I priced them against progressive and first guard and found thier rates very fair so I get it thru them and it is taken weekly from my settlement

Thanks for the info......I've been waiting for a thread like this to come along.....here we go.....

    1. Pay, I understand that it's .93/mile plus current FSC @ .43?
    2. What kind of fuel discounts do you get?
    3. Do the used tractors come with new rubber and what is the life expectancy of tires?
    4. Taxes and tags.....does SNI process these for you?
    5. What kind of deductions are taken out each week?
    6. Do you own the truck after 3 years?
    7. personal taxes (income taxes).....do you take care of this yourself or does SNI take them out?
    8. Accountant? Do you hire your own or will SNI process this stuff?

I have a lot of questions. PM me if these are things you might think are useful. Thanks in advance.

    1. As far as milage pay I am unsure that is called the "Legacy" program. SNI will dispatch you on that program. I am on the "Choice" program where I log into thier load board and choose my freight. I average about $1.70 a mile on that program.
    2. Right now we get .10 of the cash price at FJ's and Pilots. The discount changes every two weeks. I have seen it go up to .22 a gallon and as low as .06 a gallon.
    3. No, but they will make sure the tire are over 12/32nds and on 1-2 year old tractors it will be virgin rubber, not re-caps.
4.Truck tags and fuel taxes are calculated by SNI and then deducted from your settlement, tags are around $31 a week and fuel tax is between $20-$50 a month taken once a month.
    5. If you buy a truck thru SFI then a weekly truck payments, all fuel purchased, tags, truck insurance (if purchased thru SNI), Maintenance (if you have it).
    6. Leases are up to 5 years, at the end with SFI you generally have a ballon payment(some companies DO NOT HAVE THIS) but thier weekly payment's tend to be higher. My lease is 3 years and I have a small balloon payment. Personally I would not buy a new truck, way too expensive.
    7. You pay all your personal income, state and SSI taxes.
    8. There are many trucking tax service companys that make this fairly easy.

Please explain the difference between "Legacy" and "Choice". My understanding was with the Choice program you got to choose your loads (one fells said he did it up to a week at a time). Is the Legacy program the same? Look, if all I'm doing is making truck payments and hoping nothing breaks, I'm not interested. What I was hoping to do is get into a decent late model used fleet truck with reasonable payments that could be paid off in 3 years and choose where and when I wanted to run. Is this possible?

Is that 1.70 all miles or loaded miles?

That is what I can average per loaded mile. I can pretty much keep my deadhead miles below 50 per load by learning where to run. If you can stay in a busy freight lane then the deadhead miles are minimal.
