Oh and how can you make a financial presentation without a single chart, graph, or infogram?

Well made a mistake grabbing this load. Will never, EVER, EVER make that mistake again.
At first glance: pretty close to my previous delivery (not too much deadhead), appeared to have lots of light freight, paid well, easy interstate travel, why not?
THE NEWBIE MISTAKE: Not checking the route carefully enough and looking at the actual locations and what was involved in getting there - basically, going around my *** to get to my elbow. It was so bad I almost called in to have the load pulled. Then I got to looking at the area and I waited too long and all the other good loads out of there were gone, so I really had no choice 'cause I didn't want to sit.
Then I get to the shipper and all that little freight that I added up i my head to being around 20-25k ends up being 34k. Wonderful.
Then I had to pull it all the way across 64 from where it splits off near Richmond, over to 81, back on 64, all the way across the WV turnpike. That stretch of 64 from 81 to near Beckley is the most miserable 120 something miles on the planet. 7% grades, and it just keeps going... and going... and going. No truck stops, maybe ONE tiny rest area, no where else to stop and grab a bite to eat, etc.
LESSON LEARNED. Stick to my usual loads.
I'll get rid of this POS load tonight, then pick up my next one headed for Carlisle. Should arrive in Carlisle on Saturday morning.knuckledragger and Lonesome Thank this. -
Just wanted to say that not this weekend but next weekend the WV state fair starts in Lewisburg WV and the traffic on I 64 around there will be a cluster. Just wanted to let people know so they will expect it.
mickimause Thanks this. -
every time I get on 64 I want to abandon the truck on the side of the road (the part I like best is where you're facing a 7-8% grade so you floor it, and half way up the hill the speed limit goes to 45....priceless).......rode 77/64 from Ohio to NC last week.....painful.....just painful.
but the upside is that I knew that was how I was going to have to go when I picked the load, so, actually that made it better. What really sux monkey nuts is when it just kinda 'pops' up on you.....but, if you're mentally prepared for it, it's tolerable -
I like that road dont have issue plenty of places to park n eat
