Was there the week before last - before I went home. Still don't have a preassign for after delivery near Jackson tomorrow, so can't say for sure.

    TennMan Thanks this.

This may be the last straw. To say I am irritated would be understating things. "Guaranteed" home time, at 9 a.m. today. Yes, I realize that means they have 12 hours either way...that isn't the issue.

My day started at 0500, in order for me to be home in time to get on the bike & be at the function by 9 p.m. EDT. Delivered with no issues, made it to my pickup early, so got to sit & wait. Expected, so not horribly unhappy - just mildly disappointed. Note from covering DBL...call when you get to Gary. Yup, my number up again. Fortunately it was extremely quick, less than 30 minutes from the first call to the follow-up that I was done. Advised her that I only had 6 hrs 15 minutes left on my 14. Got back to Gary, and waited. And waited. Finally, an hour later, get a preassign to my home town - very unusual, as there aren't many places here to deliver to. Relayed trailer'd been there for at least a day. Down to 5 hours on my 14, 251 miles to drive, and A LIVE UNLOAD at the end of it. Needless to say, I did not make it, am about 40 miles away. But that's okay, since I couldn't deliver until Monday, anyway. (Do I need to specify that there are copious amounts of sarcasm driping from THAT comment?? I thought not.)

Tonight's function is pretty danged important to several people, and as wife of the P of the Founding Chapter in the state, my presence is pretty much mandatory. It's also the first night of a 3 day event, on the heels of which follows our annual motorcycle trip to the mountains of TN & NC. I requested this week during my first week of orientation, so it isn't that they didn't have enough notice. When Kristy sent the note earlier this week asking for TAH to make sure everyone's was on the calendar, I replied & she said it was. If I hadn't had to wait that hour to get a preassignment to pick up a relay that had been there for a while, I'd have made it home, at least - I still have an hour on my 70.

So, here I sit, 41 minutes until show time, 40 miles from home (and that is 30 minutes from the campground), waiting on my old man to show up. Oh, and I will have to come back to get the truck at some point this weekend, and deliver on Monday.

    Thanks, Schneider.

Well, I guess I need to just come out with it.

September 30 is my last day as a pumpkin driver. There are a lot of reasons, but I'm not going into them on an open forum. I will, beginning October 6, be a tanker driver. No, not for Big Orange. Yes, I have talked to my DBL - this post isn't going to come as a surprise to him.

What I will miss about SNI is the concierge at Chez Obetz and the commeraderie in the OCs and on here. Doc says I have to leave the door swingers forum and go hang out in the bulk one...I wanna see him make me! :D

I feel like I've learned a lot here, and for the most part I've enjoyed it. I know I still have plenty to learn, too! I have mentioned before, though, that no job is perfect - you just have to decide what you are willing to tolerate. We've moved beyond that point now, so it's time for a change.

Wish me luck, and watch out for purple gliders pulling tanks in Michigan!!

Mostly around home. Dispatch supervisor's philosophy is that drivers get stupid after about 14 days in the truck, and he doesn't want idiots driving his trucks. He prefers that we take our resets at home, too, so will most likely be home weekly-ish.

Gliders, nothing older than 2009. No DEF, no e-logs, NO JILL!!!!! APU, inverter, and more $, too. Hard to say no :)
