Well it's official I start with Schneider next week!!
It took a lot to finally make a decision on what company to go with. I did a lot of research on here and other places on the web and finally took the plunge...I must say that reading the experiences of dieselfuelonly was a key part in my decision, apart from the fact that he's from NC as I am i was impressed with the straightforward reporting free of too much embellishments and as objective as possible.
I am aware of the income expectations etc but I think the main thing that attracted me as well was the 17 day training period that is actually a training period not purgatory and working for peanuts for another driver for 4-8 weeks, what the deal with that anyways?? It seems that practically every company expects you to run team with a "trainer" who in actuality is another driver just racking up miles on your back? I don't get it and I don't understand why so many people go for it!..Granted I paid for my training so I can basically choose where to go and avoid any kind of contract but still..
Should be interesting!

Welcome aboard! Driver 97714 here
Schneider as a training company, sets a standard, as far as I'm concerned. I have had my issues, but if I were a new driver starting out, I would feel that I am in very good hands. You will easily be able to spend a few quality years here as you build your career and you may end up staying for your career. There are a ton of different things you can do here as a driver and Schneider doesnt hesitate to promote from within, if you decide to further your career with the company, but not as a driver.
Good luck to you my friend and don't forget to ask questions. The only stupid question is the one that isnt asked.kamtrucker Thanks this. -
Don't drink the Orange koolaid. There are alot of new folks here from reading DFO's threads. Give him a lil kickback and use him as a referral. Welcome to the pumpkin
