So I'll be starting to get pre hire letters and Schneider really appeals to me ( must be all of that glorious orange ) I was just curious about how you stay comfortable in the heat I understand that they have bunk heaters but my problem is that I can not sleep in extreme heat and as far as I can tell they have no APU and no idle so how do you cope ? :biggrin_25512:

You can idle the truck when it's above 70. With that said you actually can idle when it's around 65 or so because the heat from the engine skews the temperature reading up. You can also idle below 20 but in that instance in reality you can't idle til it gets around 12 or so for the same reason. The only issue you might run into is having to idle the truck in states that have laws against idling (California would first come to mind for you, but also pretty much all the northeast states). You can get ticketed for idling in such states, but that hasn't happened to me yet. If it ever does I'll just send the bill to schneider and make them pay it

Straight up: SNIs idiotic idling requirements were one of the things that caused me to leave. Not idling is one thing....but not giving the driver another way to stay comfortable is unforgivable.

Idling is not a problem in the summer at all, unless you consider the fact that we have to break idling laws in some states in order to be comfortable. When idling becomes a bigger problem is in the winter when it has to be super cold and good luck keeping a charge in the batteries when you cant idle at 20 degrees

My truck won't idle until it's 90 outside. Wherever they have that sensor in this particular truck, it's pretty accurate. My cab got up to 105 last week while in Texas and it was 88 outside and it wouldn't Idle. I spent 3 hours hiding in the Customers break room, because they had AC.
