You used a lot of "past tense" at the end of your post ethos, you no longer driving?

Sadwar,,sometimes some people just like to vent brother, that's all. The driver is probably thinking about leaving but, it isn't that simple for everyone. I drove for them for 3.5 yrs and dealt with the idle issue. Your right, 70 is not hot and with a bunk heater, 20 is not cold. But, when the outside thermometer says 70, it is 80/85 in the cab. Now me, would roll the windows down and use screens but, it did bug me some that SNI would almost force people to be uncomfortable. The idle goes against your bonus as well. Now me, I didn't care about no bonus but, some do. Also, some people aren't able to tolerate temps. like us soldiers can... so ease up Comrade, we are not all the same. HOOAH!

After following many sni threads on here such as DFO's, Jar heads , Tennnan's and many others . The rants and raves still have me very interested in starting there .

My hvac at home was out for a couple of days , i threw together 2 swamp coolers together for the bedrooms we slept in . Amazingly they worked . Now i am just wondering would that not work in a semi say if you used a 5 gal bucket instead of a cooler . Just wondering . For say 2 bucks a day for ice seems a logical alternative . But hey i am not the sharpest pencil in the box but i can make a mark every now and again ....
We are Americans not Americants and sometimes it helps to stand back look inside ..........

Idling/staying cool in the summer IS NOT an issue at Schneider. You will have no problem idling when it's above 63-64. The problem you will run into is during the winter time, when it won't idle until you get down to around 12 or 13. Granted, you have a bunk heater, but if that goes out, or, if you use CPAP and drain the batteries you will have problems keeping battery power in the cold.

Since I have a white truck now, it's been a world of difference. When I quit for the day, I immediately go into the truckstop ad keep busy until Bedtime. Then I'll go for a 1/2 walk, hop in the truck and run it to get the bunk COLD and then shut everything off and turn of my fan and by the time the cab warms up, it's 1-3 am and its the coolest time of day, so the truck stays nice until I wake up. Winter time, I buy a 0- -15 sleeping bag. I wont even used the bunk heater until the morning to warm the truck before I get out of bed.

the way I dealt with it was simple

I just sucked it up and dealt with it

if its really really cold I guess i'll just freeze, or i'll sleep with a coat on (I have)
if its really really hot i'll sweat then

it would cost $100,000,000 to put APU's in their trucks that's alot of money

a $10,000 APU doesn't make the company money
