I am kicking around the idea of getting a T680 next spring when this lease is up. I like the idea of having it paid off on 2 1/2 years. Just not the idea of no warranty on it.

Can you guys recommend a truck that will fit a queen mattress and porta potty in the back? Nothing 'custom' or over the top expensive. Just a truck that has a big enough sleeping area to accomodate. Girlfriend wants to know

I wonder if and when the Allison autos will be an available option for pretty much any OTR truck. Not sure who exactly offers them at this point. None of this automated-manual bullcrap, its an actual auto with a torque converter. Look how fast it shifts:

All the military big trucks have gone Allison auto. My hemtt wrecker pulled way more weight then any box driver could dream off and it was bullet proof. Think HET with M1 on the deck, an M1 combat loaded is 62tons

Think you have to have a custom truck to fit a queen size mattress in it..Get an 84 inch sleeper, it may house a full size at best....Can't say much about the potty except put a cork in it We's gots to roll:biggrin_2559:

For $30,000 you will not get much of a truck.

Years ago I bought a 2 year old freightliner,,it wasn't work making a boat anchor out of it,,
A friend who ran a Mack dealer told me to go check out Peterbilts when I wanted to replace my boat anchor,,I told him I could not afford a Pete,

I went to the local freightliner dealer in Landover <MD and got a price on a new truck , again my Mack dealer friend told me to check out Peterbilts,,I did , went to the Pete Dealer on the eastern shore of Maryland and they sold me a new pete,,better spec'd that the freightliner for a lower price,,since then I bought 4 more new Pete's from the same dealer and for about the same price or a little lower than same spec'd freightliners,
My Mack dealer friend told me the "You don't know how much a truck really cost you until you sell it and if you can"
Frieghtliners and Volvo's are not generally the first choice for used truck buyers, Resale values are low do to the vast number of used freightliners and Volvos they dump on the used truck market each year.
My last truck was a 4 axle Pete 379 and my dealer in Maryland beat Rush Peterbilts price by $18,000.

Most important is who owned the used truck before you,,was maintenance always done on schedule,,never buy a truck that was wrecked or had a frame extended and you want 6MPG or better,, Cheap can cost you big bucks if you are not carefull
