I'm looking for your response. I'm trying to estimate income with all these companies and compare them. My head is swimming. Not sure who/what to believe. Please give my your average mileage per week and the company you drive for. I'll probably be OTR and I know that can make a difference. Also, I live near Cadillac MI, if that makes a difference. Prime offered me .42 mile (refer) out 4 weeks home 5 days. After 40k miles with trainer. Recruiter said that by the time I'm ready for orientation training pay will be 600 a week for first 20k miles and 700wk for remaining training miles. Schneider offering .32 mile .33 after 3 months OTR out 3weeks home 4days. Training is 5 days green bay 8 days with trainer and 5 days green bay, $600 wk while training. both companies claim 2600+ miles wk. What are your thoughts????

I could be wrong but I think you will get 30cpm for the first 3 mths and then 31...the other 2 cents is the bonus that you have to qualify for by working within the metrics that they established for the 1/4 in question. There should be a significant signing bonus that you should look into.

TAH can be an illusion so don't bank on 4 full days after 3 weeks...you'll make the most money by kissing your loved ones good bye and telling them you will try to swing by a couple of times over the next few years; the money is only decent if you are willing to think of this like joining the French
Foreign Legion. TAH cost you miles and will impact your bonus metric.

That Prime offer sounds rough...all depends on what your "trainer" is like...I have seen a few trainers who having to live with them for 40k day in and day out would be the 8th circle that Dante never wanted to talk about.

I will say that Trucking is a lifestyle not a JOB you either love it or hate it and that can change daily. It's not for every one and those that love it can make a good living at i. It's not easy but it can be done and your home time will improve.

Tenn is right! If you can stick with it, it gets better as you go and gain experience. It really is what you make it!

As company driver for SNI I averaged between 2500 and 3000 miles a week. Usually would hit at least the 2800 mile a week. This was in 11 western region. Prime and SNI are both good company's. Each one has different ways of giving their driver's options. Your pay isn't going to vary much ..Personally I have proven to myself that you will make more with the company you feel has the best options for you! ie..I was a driver previously so I liked SNI short training period out with the trainer. Plus they let you do all the driving. The trainer is not going sleep on you and not relying on you to act as team truck. They just want you to get comfortable with the truck and train you on the basics. If you feel you need more they will provide that also.

i think your right. attitude plays a big part of whether you'll like a company. i have 2 weeks til cdl graduation. this week I meet with seceral recruiters. I hope to make a decision this weekend on which company I'll drive for. I'm also looking at the choice IC program (down the road).
